Continuing my Astro Projection series on maximum WARP :-)
I had my out-of-body-and-lens experience with Astro Zoom-keh magic during a festive Blue Hour on wast Toronto Downtown cityscapes in the bokeh mode! :-) I managed to jump into another dimension and back again during 30 fantastic seconds of long exposure and here is what my camera's sensors have recorded :-)
...all brought to you by my manual zoom / long exposure / bokeh magic :-)

*It's a SOOC image, manual zooming during long exposure - no processing involved!

Full Golden Moon of July

We were watching a beautiful moonrise on July 4th... First the moon looked totally strawberry pink as it appeared from the horison, right from Ontario lake in our case, see the previous post. And then the moon rapidly changed colour to golden as it did rise above the lake also casting a golden moonpath on the lake surface.

This is a vertorama from 2 images, each with a different exposure.
The lower part is 4 sec, f/4.5
The upper with the moon is 0.8 sec, f7.1

Also it is a collaboration with my Julian Ray :-) It happened that he did the shot with the moon and I did the lower part as well as united the vertorama :-)
(The image was taken with a small camera that was available on the moment. It's practically SOOC)

Going through my spring archives, found these shots of the dark chocolate night with the elegant moon atop...
I used different settings and frankly I like the both shots - cannot decide which one better... What do you think?

Moon & Venus Rendez-vous. 2 Nights.

Witnessed a two nights long rendezvous of Moon and Venus.
It happened in the western sky during the blue hour after the sunset two days in a row.
On May 15 (left pic), the thin lunar crescent was beneath the Venus and on May 16 (right pic) the moon was above the Venus and slightly to the left. It looked like they were waltzing together, whirling in the sky!
It was a spectacular sight I enjoyed on Saturday's and Sunday's nights.

In between these nights, there was the occultation Venus and the Moon, but alas it was not visible in North America.
A similar close passage between these Celestial bodies will occur again in June. But the next occultation of Venus will be on August 13, 2012 as they say.

That was on the same cold winter morning I saw through my window as on the previous photograph. Only I looked in the west direction: I loved how the Sun is reflected in windows and that the thin crescent moon was in the sky.

I got the Sun again!

Story of One Sunrise

Welcome to the grand finale of our one-hour play of ‘Story of One Sunrise’!

We watched this spectacle from the very first colourful splashes on the night sky, where the Crescent Moon reigned, setting up a poetical mood to the first act. Next we listened to the airy symphony of colours that were spreading across the sky canvas. And then we observed the most radiant act of the stellar performance of our beautiful Sun, which was spreading the magnificent rays of warm light over the city and uniting East and West.

And now the Sun came so close to me, so I was able to play with him again!
No wonder, we were on one frequency with the Sun this morn, as it happened the next day after my ‘I got the Sun’ story.

So, I bathed in the warm sunlight as did the entire city during this magical contact with the center of the Solar System!

It was so hazy when I watched the rising of the second full moon of August... so the whole moonrise scene over the lake looked like a dream :-) I thought the texture magic will enhance the mood...

Wanted to share "Strawberry Moon" - a new adorable funny-jazzy music video by my Julian Ray!
It's from his work-in-progress album "Smooth & Jazzy" :-)

This is a screenshot from the opening scene, featuring Pinky, she's one of the 3D characters, chibi cats (others are Periwinkle and Orange) that Julian have created in Blender 3D for this music video, so that the chibi-cat band can play his music composition named "Strawberry Moon" :-)
I was happy to contribute a little bit for the video - one of my strawberry moons and creamy clouds :-)

Strawberry Moon of July

Watched a beautiful moonrise on July 4th... it was a bit hazy and the moon was supposed to rise above our Ontario lake as seen from our place. When the time had come but there was no moon in sight, the haze was too thick right above the lake.... but 5 minutes later, it appeared in all its strawerry splendour! :-)
I know that Strawberry Moon is the name for June's full moon... but It looks like July is still has this strawberry flavour :-)

Captured the full Moon of January last night, it's not perfect I admit, hand-held in full zoom... Still, wanted to document this Old Moon or Ice Moon or Wolf Moon as it called. It is closer to Earth than any other full moon will be in 2010... and apparently it is larger than other moons I photographed, take a peek at summer full moon, taken from the same place with the same lens!

First October Blue Hour

Blue hours in October are really special :-) The air is clear and fresh that really produce the bluest skies ever especially during Blue hour whether it's morning or evening Blue hour. And on the very first October Blue hour there was a big moon eye in the sky :-) On this East direction, I also liked the reflections in this tall building which shows us special shades of blue from the opposite direction of the sky canvas where our sun just left the scene, keeping all around in a poetical mood.

A good week ahead to you all!

On the same day as I saw that Scorpius catching the crescent moon... It seems the moon was able to escape from the claw of Scorpius, hiding behind the cloud curtain :-)
Always find it quite charming when the crescent moon is hanging above the cityscape...

Moon in Scorpius Claw

Yesterday in the blue hour watched the moon and found in it completely caught in the claws of Scorpius! Well his tail was well below the horizon, so he was hiding behind those buildings and waited for the crescent moon :-)
It must be seen Large :-)

about image: straight from the camera with just added lines and names in a layer to outline that claw :-)

I found the waxing gibbous moon among clouds on the sky, in late afternoon, on the cold 6th day of the year, and this growing Big Cold Moon looked just like a snowball :)

Celestial Rendezvous

That was a glorious sunset and sky show on New Year’s Eve.
A beautiful conjunction of the two brightest celestial bodies after the sun - the slender crescent Moon and the planet Venus - was visible in the southwest sky at dusk and early evening on December 31, 2008.
Also the planets Jupiter and Mercury were sitting close to the horizon in the direction of sunset. Jupiter was fairly easy to see, as it’s the 4th brightest celestial body after the sun, moon and Venus to adorn the heavens.
Watching this celestial rendezvous was a wonderful way to end the year!
