My Chicago coffee adventure continues. I had somehow overlooked Buzz Killer Espresso on Damen even though I had walked and driven by many times. One great feature of Buzz is a window upfront with room for maybe 3 stools. It is an ideal spot to watch people walk down Damen.

Several of Chicago's wonderful coffee roasting community came together on April 25 for the Chicago Roaster Jam at the Counter Culture Coffee Chicago. It was hosted by Halfwit Coffee, New Gotham coffee community, and Passion House Coffee Roasters and included a panel discussion at 5:30PM about green coffee buying and storage. It was coffee geek heaven.

The knock on the otherwise lovely Voigtlander Nokton 35mm, f/1.4 SC is the barrel distortion. If you don't use it to shoot landscapes (I mostly have not), you don't really notice it. In this shot, you notice it. To my eye, it feels like the building is rolling towards the guy. As an aside, the look on the guy's face is saying "hey, guy at a red light, why are you pointing your camera out the window at me."

Really enjoyed being able to shoot the Ricoh GR1v as I walked through ORD (Chicago's O'Hare International Airport). The AF and 28mm lens make it possible to grab all kinds of funny things. People really act odd when they travel.

I recently switched to Photographer's Formulary TF-4 fixer and love the short fixing time (the film clears in half the time of my old fixer) BUT, my negatives are curling badly (Neopan 400 is the worst). Can anyone offer advice for how to solve this?

Running a test roll with the Russian classic, Jupiter-8, 50mm, f/2. This seems to be a nice, vintage look, low contrast lens. It's nice to work with as it has no click stops on the apertures. Allows for nice middle positions, if you are in to that sort of thing. For these shots of my teenage daughter, I metered once with the iPhone light meter app (it was Walgreens and the light never changes) and just shot.
