Jeanette and Sr. Joan (100/100)

Maureen Bond posted a photo:

On my way to finish a little shopping in the pouring rain I finally saw some bell ringers. Kinda odd to be 25 miles from your current home back into your hometown where you grew up to see these two ladies. These ringing bells, the red pot and the Salvation Army is something that I saw every year growing up for the whole month of December and always looked forward to putting any change I had in the red pot and to hear them say Merry Christmas. My mother taught me that is was a really good thing to do. Meet Jeanette and Sr. Joan. These two strangers (no more) really stopped me in my tracks. Was it their smiles, the bells ringing, the childhood memories, well I think it was all the above and a little more. I really felt so good about meeting these two and knowing I was completing my project with Jeanette and Sr. Joan. Jeanette was volunteering to do this today for a little while as her brother had passed away this year at 98 years of age and always did this service during this time of year and she thought she could continue his legacy. I thanked her for that and knew her brother was proud of her. Sr. Joan was also volunteering for a few hours ringing her bell like no tomorrow. She is from Holy Family and that began our conversation and once again what a small world we live in. She asked me if I knew someone and I said I most certainly did and then another and then another. I have a feeling I will bump into Sr. Joan again and will talk to a few other sisters at work that might possibly know her as well. As you can see by their smiles they were in a great mood, happy to be out in the cold wet rain, sharing some stories with me and smiling for a photo. I'm proud that these two were my 100th Stranger to the project, a bit of a connection, good memories from growing up and "tis the season of giving" after all.

"This picture is #100 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at www.100Strangers.com

Joe (95/100)

This past summer I had gone to a Light Painting Workshop out in the California Desert, under the full moon for some good times in a place called Hollywood Rentals. Joe was one of the advanced participants that I got to meet and watch him work. I have had Joe as a contact for some time and it sure is nice to meet someone in person that you do admire. Well, last night Joe had a Night Photography Exhibition of some of his wonderful automotive light painting images up and for sale. Below you can see his invitation and the show runs to the end of the month. This event was held at a great little wine bar in Long Beach and the place was packed. Joe's work never looked so good, enlarged, framed, colorful and done right! It is so inspiring to see something you have tried, willing to do it again with hope you get it even better but the guy next to you nailed it! I'm so proud of Joe, his opening and success in the future. He really loves what he does and it shows with him smiling here, I think you can tell. Oh and the wine was really good too. Thanks Joe for being a part of my project that is almost done. Looking forward to seeing you again soon out in our vast desert, and shooting pictures at night!
We had a special event and she had prepared the food for over 200 people. Meet Norma my 89th Stranger for my project. She is such a hard-working professional with the biggest heart. She is so kind, thankful and really believes in going the distant for everything she does and that one day it will be returned in a bigger way. It is people like Norma that I like to surround myself with. Thanks Norma for being wonderful in what you do and I know our paths will cross again.

This is another image that I am able to use for both my 100 Strangers Project and 30 Days of Gratitude.
Meet Kyausha, she is my 83rd stranger and I have to say that is feeling good right now knowing that I have another 3 ready to be uploaded. I actually met Kyausha for the first time as a guest instructor for some of my dance classes I offer at work. Her background is quite intense and interesting. She of course loves to dance, perform, teach and choreograph. She has worked with so many wonderful talents but two come to mind that she gets a real big smile with. She spent about 11 years working with Earth, Wind and Fire and the other is Beyonce. This is where I had her come in and do workshops with these themes. Everyone had a great time and wanted more.
For my Gratitude, I am grateful for people like Kyausha that share their gifts with others. No strings attached, no pretenses all genuine. Thanks to all those that do share!
