Now as you know I am not a fan of Winter and in the last week or so I have been feeling all snowed out. However, tonight I had a pang of regret that I have made no effort whatsoever to capture any snowy images this Winter thus far (and have no plans to do so either...so far anyway). With temperatures down to minus 28 with the wind chill, the thought of spending more than 5 minutes outside right now just urks me to say the least. That said, I thought I would fish out just one image I took last Christmas a Peggy's Cove as a token snowy gesture.

Enjoy the cold on Black!

Surprisingly no textures or gulls either :o)

I was in my element out on the water with a few fellow photographers last Friday, as you can see the weather was gorgeous, there were boats galore to photograph (which is always a good thing in my book). We had a picnic lunch at McNabs Island (where some brave souls went on a lengthy hike...I stayed soaking up the sun on the boat) and Dinner in Dartmouth before we headed back out on to the water to watch the fireworks display (the fireworks were part of the tall ship festival). I have to say I think this was one of my favourite days of Summer so far along with the road trip Nancy and I did to Cape Breton. This shot was taken as we were leaving Purcell's Cove Marina. You could be forgiven for thinking it was taken somewhere more tropical than Nova Scotia. Now have I made any of you want to visit our lovely Province?

Peggy's Cove Harbour on Christmas Day not only provided me with a snowy perspective, but also some of the nicest natural blues I have ever encountered.

Peggy's Cove is 43 kilometres southwest of downtown Halifax and comprises one of the numerous small fishing communities located around the perimeter of the Chebucto Peninsula.

The community is named after the cove of the same name. Peggy is a nickname for Margaret, and the village may have taken its name from St. Margarets Bay upon which it is situated. Local folklore has several alternative origins for the name. Some people claim Peggy was an early settler. Others say she was a young survivor from a shipwreck who remembered nothing of her life before her rescue; not even her name but was given the name Peggy by the family who adopted her.

The village was founded in 1811 when the Province of Nova Scotia issued a land grant of more than 800 acres (3.2 km2) to six families of German descent. The settlers relied on fishing as the mainstay of their economy but also farmed where the soil was fertile. They used surrounding lands to pasture cattle. In the early 1900s the population peaked at about 300. The community supported a schoolhouse, church, general store, lobster cannery and boats of all sizes that were nestled in the Cove.

Many artists and photographers flocked to Peggys Cove. As roads improved, the number of tourists increased. Today the population is smaller but Peggys Cove remains an active fishing village and a favourite tourist destination.

Peggy's - A Snowy Overview

Hmmm, do you sense a bit of a theme developing :o). Yes more from pretty Peggy's in the snow. I will not be flickring tomorrow, regular service should be resumed on Thursday.

Sorrento is a small town in Campania, southern Italy, with some 16,500 inhabitants. It is a popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the Bay of Naples as the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, and many viewpoints allow sight of Naples itself, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri.

Wood Islands is a Canadian rural farming and fishing community located in southeastern Queens County, Prince Edward Island on the Northumberland Strait.

It takes its name from several small forested islands located several hundred metres offshore in the Northumberland Strait. These islands are permanently linked by sand bars to form Wood Islands Harbour, a sheltered harbour which hosts a ferry service to Caribou, Nova Scotia operated by Northumberland Ferries Limited, as well as a small craft fishing harbour. The southwestern shore of the lagoon forming Wood Islands Harbour is also the southernmost point in Prince Edward Island with coordinates 45º65'54"N, 62º45'18"W.

Wood Islands Provincial Park, a picnic area, is located southeast of the ferry terminal on the largest of the islands and adjacent to the Wood Islands Lighthouse, an automated light station operated by the Canadian Coast Guard. The Wood Islands Lighthouse is now a museum operated by a local community group and can be toured daily from mid July to mid September.

Enjoying a lovely long Natal day weekend here. Went out to watch the fireworks on Saturday evening, they were actually launched from the Macdonald Bridge, but I got a couple of half decent shots of the City so I decided to make a composite shot of both. Looks better on Black

The holiday is known by a variety of names in different provinces and municipalities, including British Columbia Day in British Columbia, New Brunswick Day in New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan Day in Saskatchewan. The holiday is celebrated as Natal Day in Nova Scotia

Eastern Passage is a Canadian urban community in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality.

Located at the southeastern edge of Halifax Harbour, fronting the Atlantic Ocean, Eastern Passage derives its name from the narrow strait separating the mainland from McNabs Island, an island in the harbour lying several hundred metres west of the community. This "Eastern Passage" into the harbour is not the main shipping channel due to its shallow depths; the main shipping channel lies west of McNabs Island. The Eastern Passage is largely used by small recreational boats and fishing vessels during inclement weather as the island affords shelter from prevailing winds.

A new viewpoint for me, loved the up turned boats and the sneaky peak of the harbour behind with the little pops of red
