Abandoned School House in the valley, such a pretty little building, so much character. And from the looks of it (on the inside) there might be a restore plan in action. Great for the building, not so good for photography! I think both doors at the front were red originally, but one was beyond repair and replaced.

One from the archives that had been over looked...After my recent uploads I was looking back to see what other wooden shingle images I had and stumbled upon this one taken at Fisherman's Reserve.

Had a trip out to a decomissioned lumber yard today with our photo club, so you can expect more textured, rusty, crusty and dusty images from me for a while.

I didn't intend for this to happen, but this week seems to be all about Abstracts, Colours, Textures and Wooden Shingles!
This is another shot taken down at Eastern Passage. Fishing huts turned Artisan shops. I hated the shiny brass door hardware, so I removed it for more impact and cleaner lines.

Oh dear, this is going to sound very melancholy, but I have been feeling quite down in the dumps and lonely of late. I don't think the long and never ending Winter has helped and even though I had that amazing trip down South it was somewhat marred by the health issues I had when I returned. Couple this with the fact I have given up smoking for a sum total of 6 weeks and 3 days which has made me pretty irritable and completely paranoid. When I feel bleak thoughts turn to old Blighty, and my family and friends back there. I have little reminders of the UK around the home, my best friend Sarah made sure of that by sending my little Union Jack themed items. This being one of them.

And just when you thought the eggventures were over :o)
These were actually the first eggs I bought to photograph, I bought them a couple of weeks ago now and they have been waiitng patiently in a cupboard awaiting my attention. As I got them out yesterday to shoot them, I noticed a chipped one on top, so I promptly ate it....And boy oh boy were these eggs a total disappointment. They may look pretty but they tasted awful. A bit like a gone off Malteaser. I guess I always was and will always be a Cadbury's Cream Egg kind of a girl!

I do love an edible photo prop, especially when chocolate is on the menu. These chocolate eggs are are still in the bowl...for now!

As we approached Hollywood Beach on the water taxi we past this vibrant looking place and several other Tiki bars. I could see the smoke from the chimney and deiniftely smell the BBQ Burgers that were being cooked which instantly made us feel hungry. We had lunch in there and I have to say the burgers are very good, I am not sure I would say it was the best burger I have ever had, but it was a pretty cool looking place inside and out. Lunch was only marred by the fact that you have to wait ages for the burgers so I didn't have time to try the Key Lime Pie and If you are thinking of dining there, beware where you sit, birds sit on the wooden struts overhead in the outside area waiting for a crumb or two and they poo. I had one poo on me while I was there.

Colours of the Caribbean II

Not much to shoot in the way of architecture in the Caribbean, but I did admire this blue archway and pink building at Playa Mia Beach Resort in Cozumel, Mexico. It's one of the first things you see when you enter the resort, Sadly I was in too much of a hurry to get in the sea to take any notice of what the pink building was used for.

Now I don't profess that this is the best picture in the world, but it's more of a reference shot for me. It has had no editing except for a slight crop. This is a Disney Cruise ship parked next to ours in Cozumel Mexico. I had to take the picture as I just couldn't believe how blue the sea was, in all my traveling, I don't recall ever seeing water as blue as this.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

It was a glorious day today weatherwise, so fellow photographer Anne and myself took a quick trip out this morning to Prospect and Terence Bay. I think it's safe to say this was one of our favourite views at Lower Prospect.

Cape Bear Lighthouse

Cape Bear is located on the southeastern tip of Prince Edward Island. The coast consists of generally rugged red sandstone cliffs and small secluded beaches. Its high banks offer a good location for viewing seals.

The first Canadian land station to hear the SOS of the Titanic as she sank in 1912 was the Marconi station at Cape Bear. The station is no longer there, but the Cape Bear Lighthouse is still there and has been in existance since 1881. The lighthouse is a square three story tower with a warning beacon on top. It has gabled windows at each level, on three sides of the structure. The light is 23 metres above the water, while the tower itself stands at 12 metres.

During the Second World War, the lighthouse proved useful for spotting German U-boats that neared the coast. Several were seen along the shore, but disappeared while being tracked. They probably vanished into the deep trench which runs between the Magdalen Islands and Prince Edward Island.

Yet another scene taken along the way on route to Cape Breton...Once again I have completely forgotten where we were at the time, but those red buildings and boats were just begging to be photographed.

Apologies for not being on flickr much in the last few days, been busy and had my hands full since the new kitten arrived. He is absolutely adorable. He has had his jabs and blood test done and it in top notch physical condition. Hamish doesn't like him at all, he has hissed many times at him and attacked him twice. It early days and I am hoping, given enough time that things will calm down. Shakespeare has taken to sleeping under my chin while I am watching TV on the sofa.

Nancy and I had some amazing skies during our recent trip to Cape Breton, the clouds over Louisbourg Fortress were no exception. The inn sign caught my eye as it almost perfectly matched it's blue sky backdrop.

Glass Bottom Boat, Grand Cayman

I have always wanted to visit Grand Cayman ever since I watched 'The Firm' and 'My Father the Hero'. And if those references weren't enough, if I closed my eyes and conjured up a vision of Grand Cayman in my head I think this image would come pretty, damn close. Taken on our Stingray Excursion.

I have had these cute, colourful pegs for the best part of 5 years now and thought I must photograph them at some point...Well today was the day! Possibly quite an apt theme for New Years' and making resolutions to do stuff..or not do stuff as the case maybe?!

Forgive the unimaginative title! Nancy, hubby myself and a friend from the UK took a drvie out today along the South Shore. All the usual places were on the agenda, the weather and the colours were superb!
