I guess I should add here (after this was posted 2 hours ago!), that I took this shot last May! while we were on our trip to the Sequoias...A range of Mountains located above Fresno, California...it was Memorial Day weekend and it was raining/snowing/foggy, you name it...We took a drive to Crescent Meadow to go looking for bears (didn't find any this time!), and this was one of the fantastic views along the way...This is the same area where I took the photo called "Ominous" that so many of you liked so much..You can view "Ominous" here: farm4.static.flickr.com/3062/2583309078_1bb6c228e9_b.jpg

Anyway I have been saving this image ever since May to post just for today..the first day of fall. as I am not likely to be seeing anything like this around Huntington Beach! Hope you enjoy!

Just back from a mini-vacation in Escondido...we stayed at a lovely resort...where there was plenty of flowers and lots of birds...here is one of them.. Happy Monday Blues a bit late and to all my fellow American friends...hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day as well..

Hey has anyone else noticed just lately..that pics uploaded here are washed out looking? compared to how you processed them originally...this one is much more colorful in CS3 than it appears here.. the same problem with my previous post...in that one I ended up saturating it even more so that the colors would match my original shot...this seems to be a new problem..before it was the light/dark difference..now the color difference!

Over the weekend, I was contacted by an owner of a card shop located in Indio, CA...of all places...who is very interested in carrying my greeting cards...so am in the process of negotiating with him..he saw my web site and wrote to me...very cool..in the meantime, all my cards are still sitting here..waiting on me to organize them and get them over to the two others places where I will have them available...our little impromptu trip kinda put my project on the back burner...

Happy Gorgeous Green Thursday... I guess I am making my watermarks more and more visible as another image of mine was seen on a girl's site (along with two of Shana Rae's)...she has since been removed from Flickr..but ya know how it goes..they can just come back using a different name, etc. but point being..I really should just place the watermark right across the "meat" of the image..making it somewhat more difficult to remove...but still easy enough to clone over etc. I've had to do it on some of my own older pics of mine..that I had not saved as a layer version but didn't want to re-open original file to start over. Well..there's not much else you can do .. I have reduced the image size to 72 ppi and approx. 11 x 9 size..instead of when I used to upload full res. images..

A Big thanks to Teresa for finding mine and Shana's images on that woman's site yesterday...;-D

My local neighborhood Anna's Hummingbird comes to visit this lovely Magnolia tree...! I actually took this shot as this hummer was hovering against the gorgeous blue skies we have been having with swirly and billowing clouds the last few days..this is the first time for me to get a shot of a hummer set upon the sky...he was hovering there before diving down to have dinner at my next door neighbor's feeder. While I was waiting for hummingbirds to show up..I had spotted this magnolia tree in the condo complex across from ours..and I zoomed in a took several shots. Over the past few days, I have been waiting for this blossom to open. I also hoped that a bird of some sort might alight on one of the branches. So when I saw that my shot of the hummer against the blue sky came out pretty good..I thought why not have him in my magnolia picture seemingly about to visit the blossoms there! So here is my 14th hummingbird overlay . Since I used him in this shot in which I also applied the beautiful Florabella texture called "Cherish" .. I decided that "Cherished" would make a perfect name for this hummingbird! I think this is the first time I have used this particular texture. OMG it is so gorgeous..thanks Shana Rae for creating such a fantastic and outstanding collection of textures for us! I might add that last night..I got hardly anything done to my web site I am making..I am stuck on something and have written to the people who I purchased the template from ...so ...someday soon I will get it done and up and running!

The Deserted Beach

Taken during our vacation last year in Australia..this was somewhere along the beach near Cairns and Port Douglas was it? ..Ingrid will know..;-D I was going thru my images from Australia..of which I have hundreds perhaps a thousand or two..so much beauty in this country..would love to return someday to see more...I hope everyone had a gr8 weekend.. I spent mine mostly printing out and framing images such as this one..which I now hung in the living room in a 16 x 20" frame with a mat which matches the frame...looks gr8 along side my 24x36" image of "Blue Hour at the Pier" and my 13x19" image "Perfect Summer Day". I also framed/matted 3 of my best hummingbird images that I got printed on really gorgeous paper on 8 x 10 which I got for free as test prints from my new printing company. Of course..I already want them in larger size..and might do so down the line. But since I also just ordered a 30" x 40" Gallery Wrap of one of my images called "Simplicity", I thought I better wait. The image "Simplicity" (not yet posted here on Flickr) was taken at the Great Barrier Reef and is all shades of blue waters and sky and clouds..very minimalistic...and is gonna look awesome hung up over our bed..

Oh and good news! I got an email from the peeps at Bolsa Chica Wetlands, informing me that one of my images was picked to be on their 2010 Wetlands Calendar! Now, they don't tell you which one and they don't say if it will be on either the cover/above one of the months/or a smaller one placed in the "days" section of the calendar..but will find out soon. The calendar is being sent to the printer this week I think. Then they have a debut party and all the photogs are invited for the unveiling. I had to write a 2-3 sentence profile which will also appear on the calendar.. You can imagine the run-on sentences I used! ;-D So I am pleased and honored that an image of mine was chosen..as this was my first ever time to submit and will receive photo credit only...as the wetlands is a not-for-profit organization! But will be good to get my name out there. Of course, I am dying to know which photo it will be and where it will appear. Will let ya'll know as soon as I know. thanks to all of you on Flickr, for teaching me to become a better photographer...really being a part of Flickr and seeing photos of yours each and every day, has really worked like osmosis on my ability to take pictures! So Thanks!!! ;-D
