I have been a HUGE fan of this man's work for a very longtime. I have played at many of the theatres he has designed. He is a Theater Designer and has worked on some of the most recognized theatres in the WORLD. It was an honor to get to spend a few hours with him and get to see him work! He showed me ALL the work he has done in his lifetime, I got to sit with him at his desk where he creates and designs these masterpieces!!!!!! I kept having to stop and just take it all in, when you have followed a person's work, and then get to actually sit and see them work, it is breathtaking. He is an ARTIST in every sense of the world. He knew he wanted to design theatres at the tender age of 4, when his mom took him to see a show. The lights, colors, textures, patterns, dancers, actors, etc all left a lifetime impression on him that lasts till this very day! He has miniature 1/8 scale models of all of his work, the intricate details that he puts into his models is beyond AMAZING!!! I feel truly inspired, blessed, and privileged to be one of the few people that have taken his portrait. He has invited me over to do more and also he let me know I can use his studio to do photoshoots anytime I want to. His studio in itself is a work of art, I will be sharing more pics of his studio and models in the days to come. I hope you enjoy this picture as much as I do.

P.S. My Hard Drive crashed yesterday, which is a bummer, but all is not lost. I was able to retrieve ALL of my Raw files, however lost ALL of my post processed pics. I only was able to retrieve my web resolution shots. So I have A LOT of work to do, but it is ok. I get to wake up and do what I LOVE to do everyday!

Stephen SMGALLERY, wanted to get some more shooting done in the studio and is still working on learning bigger light setups. He is picking this stuff up fast, and really absorbing it all. Awww...I am so proud of him...LOL.

Anyways, this was a 5 light set-up with a few different modifiers. As Steven, was shooting some shots with Iaysha, I looked to the corner of the studio and saw all the tools. Since I am doing some remodeling, I saw the shot in my head and had to shoot it. This was not planned, but just a shot that came to me on the moment.

So, I am doing some new promo stuff for LA Boxing and their MMA fighters. This is Karina, she is one bad mofo, and has been training for about 2 years now intensively. She has a fight coming up and I would not want to step into the octagon with her. I shot this in the studio, but I will be going to the gym and doing some really cool on location photographs with other fighters and her. I love MMA, and have been a fan since UFC 1, this is the one sport I would LOVE to train for. However, after I broke my back in 07' I won't be able to ever be a fighter. So I settle for taking pictures of these awesome athletes!

Another shot from the 2 SiiCK crew of my self and Stephen.....This was shot in an alley near our studio. I had been walking back there quite a bit as I LOVED that wall and that gated door. So we went out and shoot behind the alley after the end of the day and that business had closed down. I was setting up another shot, when Steve saw this shot and mentioned it to me. We lit it up and I took the shot, I think it came out AWESOME.....Me and Steve are really finding our groove working together. Sometimes I see shots while he sets up things and vice versa....things are gonna HEAT up real quick here in The OC.....Here we come!!!

Another Nadiah shot from my shoot with her and Stephen SMGALLERY. Nadiah is amazing in front of the camera and has the most natural facial expressions...Loved working with her!

This is a 4 light setup and a very simple one to do. I have been showing Stephen SMGALLERY off camera lighting and how to use it effectively on location. Gels are a great way to add color and mood to a scene. I used two green gels here to give some depth and color to the inside of the train car. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.

Last night me and Steve SMGALLERY went out to Downtown Long Beach to concentrate on getting some street portraits. We had no idea where and how were going to do this, but we were determined. We drove around and we found another photographer shooting some models, so we stopped and asked him if he knew of any good places. He told us to post up there and that he was almost done with his shoot, he was a cool cat.

We then began getting out lights and stands and flashes, etc. People were stopping checking us out and asking us random questions. I LOVE doing this type of photography, you ALWAYS meet interesting people. In 5 minutes you walk away knowing more about a stranger than your own friends.

Meet Bryan, he had just gotten off the bus at the corner, he was on his way to school. He attends Long Beach City College, and was really excited with what we were doing. He then proceeded to ask us about lighting, why we were doing this, etc. He shoots film, and enjoys processing in the darkroom. He was a really cool guy, that I hope he continues taking pictures

This is another shot from the shoot with Nadiah and Stephen SMGALLERY on Saturday. It was a blast shooting with Nadiah and also showing Stephen how to work with multiple light set-ups. He is an amazing quick learner and has such a great eye.

As some of you know I have been teaching him about off-camera lighting and he has been teaching me about Landscapes, seascapes, etc. We are having a blast learning from each other and he is a great guy. Definitely more to come from us working together so stay tuned!

I went shooting today with Stephen SMGALLERY and he brought along his friend Nadiah to shoot. Stephen is teaching me how to do landscapes and working with ND filters. The guy got me addicted...I dropped 100 bucks on a ND400 today for my Wide Angle.

Anyways, today I got show him how to use off camera lighting and how to work with them. We went out with no real shots in mind or anything, just find a location setup and get great shots. Nadiah was great to work with and was just amazing in front of the camera.

This is another shot of Jessie, he is my cousin's little boy. He lives on a farm and LOVES all animals. He loves to get dirty, and sit outside with the animals and play with them. They have horses, chickens, cows, bulls, sheep, pigs, baby turkeys, puppies, etc...to play with all day! He is always willing to pose for me. I wanted to capture him with his chickens and show his love for the countryside.

Lately, I have grown tired of shooting in the studio. I love the studio, but just have not felt creative at all in it. I needed to get out and just enjoy taking pics. I get so caught up in strobes, and all the new toys and modifiers that I forget how simple and liberating picture-taking can be without all that stuff.

So, Kim Orbitgal called me this morning to see what I was up to. I told her to grab her camera and let's go shooting today. She had been feeling the same way lately. So we challenged ourselves to just take 1 strobe, no stand nothing else, and just walk up to people and ask to take their pic. I was nervous at first but got over it quick. We headed to Downtown Long Beach and had a blast. Here is one of the shots of the day!

This is a shot of Bodie, my neighbor's dog. Not sure what mix he is, but he is the cutest little dog. He loves to bark and play in the front yard, and loves to come and bark at my dogs as well..LOL

So, I decided I wanted to add a Nuetral Density filter to my bag and went out and bought one today. I am really, really, really loving it!!!! I like underexposing my background b y 2 stops and then using the flash to expose my subject. I feel that adding the ND, gives pictures more of a cinematic feel to me at least. So expect to see a lot more work with ND filters coming from me.
