This is a very impressive waterfall. Whitewater Falls, near Cashiers, North Carolina, drops over 411 feet and is the highest falls east of the Rocky Mountains.Unfortunately you cannot get very close to it. This shot was taken after going down 150 steps to the second overlook which is at least 1/4 mile or more away.
Many people can not resist the temptation to see what you can see from the top of the falls and get too close to the edge. Signs are posted along the trails warning of the dangers and telling how many folks have died falling off the falls. Because so many people have fallen to their deaths, rapelling equipment has been permanently installed at the first overlook to assist emergency personnel in getting bodies out of the gorge.

Pisgah National Forest
Brevard, North Carolina

Catheys Creek Falls is a nice 80' fall it's a cascade about twice as high as wide when the water is really running. Unfortunately, it's hard to get to, partially on private property, and the water tends to get all muddy long after rain. This was the fourth fall we visited on our first day of the workshop.

Great Blue Heron
Ashton Pond
Blacklick Woods Metro Park

One of my all time favorite ponds, this little gem is just starting to heat up. With the temperatures starting to maintain a reasonable mild temperatures the giant goldfish, minnows, and rock bass, that are in this little pond are starting to churn at the top of the pond which provide good fishing opportunities for the heron's, king fisher's, and hopefully soon the Barred Owls.
This morning we we entertained with the Great Blue, a female and male King Fisher, a hawk (haven't yet made out what kind it was) that flew across carrying a pretty large branch piece that was being chased by some Pileated woodpeckers. The water on the pond is really calm making the surface just like ice for most of the morning which provides an awesome opportunity for catching some reflection when they fly close to the water at takeoff or coming in fishing.

Looking Glass Falls
Pisgah National Forest
Brevard, North Carolina

Well I've just got back from my first photography workshop. A four day adventure in the Land of Waterfalls, Brevard North Carolina, a place that has over 250 waterfalls within the region.
Juan Pons from the Digital Photo Experience podcast and my good friend Randall Sanger team together for a total of ten days straight of waterfall workshops starting with five days in North Carolina, and then ending with five days in West Virginia.
We visited over a dozen waterfalls some of them were absolutely gorgeous!
This was from our first day and our very first waterfall visit, at times we had to fight the sun, and there were times when we had to batlle the rain but we didn't let neither one stop us. We started at 8am and ended around 8pm.
This was one of my favorite shots of Looking Glass Falls, the sun just happend to peak through for a quick minute, and I just happened to be in the right place and waited for the right moment.
I had an absolutely wonderful time got to meet some great people and great photographers, I wanna thank Juan and Randall for putting together a wonderful workshop and a great time!

Back in the day when I was shooting film I shot just as much black and white as I did color, i believe this is my first BW digital image I've posted since shooting digital over seven years ago.
But I've just got NIK's Collection with Silver Efex Pro 2 so things may start to change.

Honey Run Falls is located in Knox County in Millwood Ohio. It is the centerpiece of the Honey Run Waterfall Park. The falls is just a few hundred feet from where Honey Run empties into the Kokosing River.
The falls is listed as being 25 feet high, but it appeared considerably shorter to me. The main drop was at most 15 feet high, with some additional cascades above and below adding a few more feet.

This is Elakala Falls#2 on Shays Run at Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis WV. When I visited this place back in May a thunderstorm had just went through the area and Shays Run was just roaring and most of the falls in the area were overflowing with water so we didn't even attempt to shoot the first day hoping that the water would subside a little if we held off for a day. This was taken late on the second day and the water hadn't subsided much. There is a series of four falls on Shays Run and this is the second one and the smallest one of the series at roughly 15 feet. The other two falls beyond this one require experience hikers due to the dangers of descending the canyon walls with no trails, and I don't exactly label myself as a experience hiker especially when it comes to descending canyon walls, the water was to rapid and the area was way to wet and very slippery so we stayed up top.

Well the high school basketball season has begun, and the Reynoldsburg Raiders who were Division 1 district champions last year started off there 2012-2013 season by playing host to visiting Wersterville South.
The Raiders really looked pretty good tonight, there not very big inside this year the tallest players on the team is 6'4" but there pretty quick and have very nice chemistry with each other, almost all of the players on team have been playing together since the 7th grade, and they also have a new head coach in Scott Davis who is bringing a new crowd pleasing style of play.
Raiders 6'4" senior forward Wendall Davis led all scores with 18 pts.
The Raiders won 56-39

Reynoldsburg got off to a good start of the 2012-2013 season by beating Westerville South 56-39 to a jam packed house.
