Every Spring I enjoy these cheery and bright little yellow blooms - especially against a blue sky. I must enjoy them because I think I photograph them every Spring too! For 2013 they arrived over a full month later than they did last year (mind you last year they came early).

This is a black & white conversion of the previous photo in my photostream .... I just had to do it. And I think I prefer it black and white, especially with the sky made black. This is 5 overlapping photos stitched together to retain as much detail as possible:

Above the main entrance of the Manitoba Legislature, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Stitched together using 5 slightly overlapping photos to capture plenty of intricate detail:
This needs to be viewed in Original Size to be fully appreciated - Viewer discretion is advised ;-)
Virtually every architectural feature and decorative ornamentation on this building, inside and out, has some mysterious or secret meaning. Think "The Da Vinci Code".
At the top of the dome on the Manitoba Legislative Building. Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The Golden Boy statue, carrying a sheath of wheat and a torch, facing North (symbolizing the North's anticipated prosperity) sits atop the dome of this majestic building. It is gold-plated bronze weighing about 3500 lbs. and measuring 17.2 feet tall. The statue was purchased from France in 1918 and placed in a ship's hold to be transported to Canada. But the ship was commandeered for service in World War I, and the statue stayed in the ship's hold until the end of the war making several trips back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean. It was eventually unloaded in Halifax Nova Scotia and made the approximately 4000 km trip by train to Winnipeg where it was placed atop the Manitoba Legislative Building on November 21, 1919.
