28/04/2013; Despite that it was a tropical 13 degrees Celsius this sunny afternoon, making plenty of Britons on the streets of Brighton (but then again, not as much on the beach) wear t-shirts and shorts, it wasn't overly crowded at Brighton beach. Where the horizon is a bit bumpy, because it's a bit difficult to make photos for a panorama with my compact camera... XD

They took my spot... :(

05/05/2013; After I left my spot at the left stage about an hour and a half earlier to check out the rest of the Westergasfabriek area to see what else is going on, and to give in to my appetite, the weather has improved a lot.

Besides that, my beloved Ajax became champions of the Dutch league for the 32nd time, meaning a lot of supporters that didn't feel like having to flee when the rioting starts at the Leidseplein just came to the Westergasfabriek area to celebrate it all straight away. Meaning there was a nice bit of audience for the bands to perform to at the end of the afternoon. But it was a bit too crowded for my liking.

05/05/2013; A group of people were dancing at this jazzy / 1950's themed stage, and this couple quickly caught my eye. And they kept having my attention until the next act was bound to perform, which was a full 5 minutes. Kudos to them. ;)

05/05/2013; Chilling out with some friends in the park with some live music (in this case of the Elementary Penguins, the first band I checked that day and the best one, so it turned out in the end), that's pretty much what Liberation Day is all about nowadays. :)

Should have been here until about a month ago for more people having their drinks and possible bites outdoor, but then again... at least there weren't any ~~idiots~~ people trying to make a conversation with you that only makes sense in their woozy minds...

I was actually looking for a nice reflection shot of the passenger sitting in front of me, while I was on my way from Gatwick airport to Uckfield, and then this train came driving by in the opposite direction. :)

11/08/2012; On August 10th, there was this meet-up dedicated to Caroline, who was temporarily back in the country. And the meet-up took place on the NDSM.

It was crowded at this place until fairly late this particular Friday, and they have this lounge area upstairs. Where I took a shot of the view with my Powershot S95 and a table tripod, as I didn't have my big tripod with me. It seemed fine when I looked at it on the screen of my compact camera, but it turned out to be underexposed quite a lot when I checked it out on my computer.

I tried to light it up in Photoshop, but I had to boost it up so much that most of the colours faded quite badly, leaving behind not the prettiest of results. But luckily, I met up with Mark the day after, and I took him to the NDSM, as he hasn't ever been there before.

At first, we walked and shot around a bit, and shortly after the sun had set and there's this phase in between the golden hour and the blue hour with which you can't really do much useful, we decided to take a break at Pllek. Which was convenient to me, as I could go for a redo at the upstairs lounge area when blue hour has started. :D

Too bad it wasn't as crowded over there that evening as it was the night before, but at least this version has the proper amount of exposure. And the barrel produced a lot more fire than it did the night before. At least it made me realize why Monique likes this place so much. ;)

26/07/2012; After we had our dinner in De 12 Balcken, the lovely Amy and I have seen a bit of Den Burg (mostly because we got lost a few times in the maze that is called their town centre XD ) before we took a break on the Vismarkt.

While we sat there, enjoying the evening sun and each other's company, I felt like making this shot, as a support to our main mean of transportation during our stay on Texel.

24/07/2012; From Monday evening until Friday morning, I have been enjoying the great weather we have had the past week of the Wadden island of Texel.

It hasn't been the most productive photographical trip, mostly because especially during the day, it really was too warm to be out there doing really active stuff, therefore leaving me to do not much else than to laze around on the beach, which by itself ofcourse isn't a punishment. ;) But I will obviously share the handful of shots that I have taken over there the past week with you.

02/06/2012; As much as it has rained so far this summer, we have had our good days every now and then, as surreal as it might have sounded until a couple of days ago. ;)

June 2nd was such a day, as you might have guessed already from the shots of the Zaanse Schans. With the terraces of at least the pubs on this square with the Multatuli statue being completely full.

09/06/2012; While I was eating with most people out of the group that attended the Mystery Walk 2012 at the nice restaurant of l'Apéro, we could see the sunset develop itself.

After a while, some of us just couldn't resist the temptation of going outside to watch the sun go below the horizon. Or below the clouds anyway...

08/06/2012; I already knew of the existance of the Flemish coast tram, but I made my first ride with it when I was in Ostend, on my way to the Spuikom.

While I was back at the stop after I finished making my shots of the Spuikom, this tram that went in the other direction than where I had to go to stopped, with the text "The biggest family of Flanders" as an ad for a Flemish radio station. And that reminded me of a slogan of a Dutch tv network.

20/05/2012; The lovely Amy and I still had some hours to spend between having checked out of our hotel and having to be on our way to the airport.

We had seen pretty much seen everything Amy and I wanted to see in Lyon, besides that we weren't feeling much for moving around a lot with our luggage. As the weather was warm and sunny, we decided to chill out in the Parc Jeanne Jugan, which actually was right next to the hotel we have spent the previous 3 days in.

It turned out to be a nice relaxing ending of some wonderful days. :) So if you feel like going on a 3 or 4 day city trip to France? Forget about Paris for once, which in my honest opinion is overrated anyway, and go to Lyon instead.

For starters, the people aren't by far as hostile (I was even positively surprised how relatively many Lyonnais turned out to be able to communicate in English). I have experienced Lyon to be not as uber touristy. And at least half of Lyon's city centre doesn't look as if you want to throw a wrecking ball against it...

Fourvière amphitheatre

19/05/2012; If you want to go amphitheatre 'hunting' in Lyon, go to the Amphitheatre of the Three Gauls on the Croix-Rousse hill first before you visit the Ancient Theatre of Fourvière.

The lovely Amy and yours truly have experienced that if you do it the other way around, it makes a visit to the Three Gauls amphitheatre epicly disappointing and totally not worth the climb if you come out of the Saône riverside direction...
