Born in Flanders, Belgium in 1851, Reverend Father Leonard Van Tighem came to Canada in 1874 where he studied for the priesthood in Lachine, Quebec. He came to Fort MacLeod in 1886 and served parishes in that town, Pincher Creek and Lethbridge. He passed away in 1917 in Taber, Alberta
