Still going strong with their ground situated at Duncansfield, Kilsyth, the club was founded just before World War 1. This card is No. 89 of the Ardath Tobacco Company's Scottish Football teams set. I notice the team are all wearing black armbands.

Believe it or not this is a postcard, background and all. It looks as though the photographer took a photograph of a photograph that was on display and then Mathieson, the local printers, reproduced it as a postcard without trimming off the borders. It's from the occasion of the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on June 22nd, 1911. The ceremonial arch looks to be beside the Memorial Hall and the cafe at the junction of Service Street and Main Street. Its the first time I've seen this view.

Looking west along Cowgate towards Alexander's Stores and the town clock at the Barony Chambers. Very much changed nowadays with the majority of the buildings pulled down. The surface of the postcard is very badly crazed, but its a nice look at Kirkintilloch as it was over 100 years ago. It was published by Aitken's Emporium, Cowgate and Townhead, and part of the Caledonia Series.

Great the sights you can come across at Wheelcraft, Clachan of Campsie. Big Al doesn't look too comfortable here. Maybe needs to adjust his seat or get longer cranks?

Very early n.o.s. centre-pull bicycle brakes. Although there isn't any name on them they look like the Phillips ''Philco'' model. Like the much later Mafac Tiger centre-pulls there isn't much scope for adjustment of the brake blocks, only a slight change of angle. I was going to use them on my old Flying Scot but the brake block drop's too much.

Nonna's Kitchen is almost ready for business. The local people are having a preview of the menus. The selection looks great and the prices are very reasonable. Looks like being a great addition to Kirkintilloch. Nice to see the restorers have managed to do their work without interfering with the ancient milestone at the top of the Forth and Clyde Canal towpath . . . unlike previous workers some years ago.
