Punk's Not Dead

So I’m having my lunchtime stroll round Cardiff’s city centre the day before yesterday and I noticed one of these two punks walking towards me. As they got closer, I could have sworn I recognised one of them as an old mate from Bristol called Stav who I haven’t seen for 24 years since 1985.
I didn’t say anything at the time as I wasn’t 100% sure but as I carried on I thought it must have been Stav as it was a dead ringer for him albeit with 24 years worth of wrinkles but only Stav would have still dressed this way, once punk always punk I suppose.
I started to kick myself thinking I’d missed out on meeting up with an old mate I’d not seen for nearly a quarter of a century.
I retraced my steps thinking there was a chance I might be able to catch up with them .
Realising which direction they were going in, it dawned on me that they could have been going to Spillers, Cardiff’s best record shop.
I headed towards Spillers and there they were, browsing the racks.
“Stav” I called and he turned round and immediately recognised me.
Fantastic, and we spent the next 15 minutes or so catching up on everything that had happened since 1985.

His mate was visiting from the States and Stav had decided to give him a day out in Cardiff.
Stav did say he’d thought of me when they’d arrived (He knew I’d moved to Cardiff as we’d caught up online a couple of years ago when I turned 40).

He said he’d check my flickr as he’d done before, he knows one of my contacts Ratman and was aware of my flickr presence.

Highlight of my week.

Introducing my lovely brand new, second hand from e bay Olympus OM10.

Bought for me by my wonderful girlfriend Cath for my birthday.

Love it and love the sound it makes when you push the button.

Put one roll of film through it so far and looking forward to seeing what we can do together.

I stayed outside after going in and thinking "Why am I in a department store, I never go in Department Stores unless I'm going for a specific thing....??"

I hadn't been in Cardiff long, years ago and trying to order a pint of Brains Dark at the bar of the Millers Tavern in Riverside.

I said dark three times to the barmaid and she just didn't understand me. When I pronounced it "Daark", she promptly said

"Why didn't you say so ?" ......

"Ark, Ark the lark" and all that

Cardiff's newest shop is nearly open.

Bristol has had John Lewis for years and what do I know but it seems very popular.
Apparently they do great guarantees on electricals.......

Debenhams are shitting themselves.....
