Magic that year. Looks good for this year too.
Driving through the woods, enjoying the sunlight shining through the Autumn leaves being blown by the wind.

I think this one was taken through the tinted windscreen, as I had to rush to avoid holding up the cars behind me..

You may hate the yellow take-over of our landscape, but it does have a certain glamour.

Mentmore was one of the hills chosen by a Rothschild in the Vale of Aylesbury for a mansion in the late C19. They say that each can view the others from their hill top, and five could be seen from the hunting lodge at the top of the Aston Hill in the Chilterns.

The bright Yellow time of year approaches -- so here's one to anticipate.

I've quite often passed this tree, and thought that it might make a good photo, but it has never come out well. This time I liked the colour contrasts, especially the blue and yellow. And I liked curve of the road from this angle.

The bunch of tulips was on the window sill, with direct, if rather weak, sunlight shining straight into this bloom. It looked stunning and irrisistible.

LARGER + F11

It was four years ago -- (now six years) -- that I was woken by what I thought must be an earthquake that shook my house. (recorded as 2.5 on the Richter scale.)

I put the radio on and heard that there had been an explosion at the oil depot at Buncefield, less than 10 miles away. I tumbled into the car, and found several places where I could see the huge plume of fire and smoke, spewing up into the dawn sky. During the next hour I took a bunch of snaps -- see

There were several wasps on my Globe Thistles this morning. I've always enjoyed the face to face look of wasps, and been stung by them several times, adding to the frisson. But they seemed to be enjoying the slightly dewy flower, and even appeared slightly inebriated. So they didn't seem too put off by my lens poked up close. But I did duck as quickly as I could when one took off in my direction.

For a short while these Clematis excelled themselves, before the usual white mould took over in the damp.

I always enjoy the way some of the twigs bend over and hang in front of the yellow garage doors.

I like cut flowers around the house -- and I love them growing old and wizened and beautiful.

This Daffodil, out of my last garden, is several years old, and has survived a move, and I think it is still beautiful.

Ridgeway (better on black)

Taken from the Ridgeway Bridge, high over the A41 dual carriageway traffic, just outside Tring.
I used to get vertigo crossing this narrow footbridge, but the magic of the patches of early low sunlight took my mind off being dozens of feet above the raging traffic below.

What would the earlier Ridgeway users (probably Iron Age folk with their mules) have thought of this development of their track. (See the bridge just below.)

I guess that is late Rape seed yellow -- but could it be mustard?

Probably the posting of a subject too far - but this one, from the next crop, seemed to come out well. Don't you like the bonnet of middle one.

A reposting (and reworking) of these fungi, that were growing in my greenhouse together with the cucumbers. I really liked the way they looked, and almost preferred them to the cucs. But they didn't last long.
