Autumn light through Beech hedge.

Autumn scene taken many years ago, and one of the few I posted to Flickr from then. I wonder if it still meets with the kind approval it got at the time. I took 4 shots of this scene at the time, and have posted 3 of them.

Do you feel comfortable about reposting old stuff? There are so many millions of people who won't have seen it, and this seems a way to re-present.

Looked like a good clear dawn, and I got up to catch the sun rising above the lake water. But when I drove down the hill I found the Vale in fog -- so instead I went to see the sun break through between the hay bales.
The bales were welcoming and I had a great time. (May post one of those sometime.)
On the way home I drove past the Avenue in Halton, and stopped for a sunbeam or two in the short time they lasted..

At this time of year the trees block out the sunset sky, and I have very little idea what it is like, and have missed several worthwhile ones as a result. Yesterday had been a beautiful day for clouds, so I drove to my layby in good time.
Whilst not a classic, this is about the best I've seen since the start of the volcanic ash that seems to have been blocking out the horizon.

I was by the lake for sunset yesterday evening, and got some quite nice pictures as the sun went down, and some reflections in the calm water.. When I thought it was all over I started to drive home, when I caught a glimpse of the fire in the sky. I considered driving back to try to catch this reflected in the water -- but guessed I would be too late. So we have to make do with this.

I don't usually try to make my pics look "like a painting", as I want them to be like a photograph, and like to do the very minimum of post processing.
But this one, a very straight photo, does remnd me a bit of the small still life paintings of 300 and 400 years ago. The painters aimed to make the objects tactile.

I was tempted to erase the wires, but decided to keep them as part of the composition. I hope that was right. After all, one keeps looking for new dawn settings.

Isn't it great when sunrise happens at a civilised hour. Unfortunately the sun itself doesn't show at this location, at this time of year.
