Dahlia Festival 2012 Shoot ~
Shot with Canon 40D Lenses; 28-70mm L F2.8 With Macro Flash
The Good thing about Late August & September, is that is when the Dahlias Bloom. I love going down to the Swan Island Dahlia Farm to see and photograph these unbelievable flowers.
It was way to sunny to capture these magnificent flowers. I spent about 4 hours there that day.

Hopefully next year will be overcast.

I was panning across the flower tops and the camera stopped on a pretty girl, and took her picture. Actually several... It wasn't until I looked closer and noticed her "Camouflage"...

"Historical Information

Portland has long had a love affair with roses. In 1888, Georgiana Burton Pittock, wife of pioneer publisher Henry Pittock, invited her friends and neighbors to exhibit their roses in a tent set up in her garden; thus the Portland Rose Society was established. The rose Mme. Caroline Testout was introduced by Pernet-Ducher in 1890, and Portlanders began to plant it on their curbs. By 1905 Portland had 200 miles of rose-bordered streets which helped attract visitors to the Lewis and Clark Centennial celebration. Portland came to be known as the 'City of Roses.' "
