BNSF's mainline cuts through the Forest Hills Golf Club in La Crosse at the bottom of Grand Dad's Bluff. I found this golf ball in the grass while waiting for a trio of eastbounds.

We stumbled upon this scouting around for new shots. A guy built this in his backyard so to speak and runs roughly 1.5 miles, goes through four tunnels, one diamond, and two bridges. It's privately held and is open to the public on Fathers day and Labor Day weekend, located in Nodine, MN.

Our engineer, Jerry, leads the little train into one of four tunnels he built for this little train ride. We started out on top of here and now we're going underneath. Almost like the Tehachapi Loop :-) Since he owns a culvert business, it wasn't too hard to obtain these things.

I drove west, looking for sun and found clouds and frustration. I was reminded why I hate the Staples Sub. After shooting the train at Northtown, I didn't catch up again until 104 miles later in Randall, MN. Traffic west of Minneapolis is terrible. To top it off, the clouds didn't clear the way I thought they would.

So here's the result, my 10th NS heritage unit. Thanks goes to Mark Mautner for the heads up.

Three SD70MAC's have a Columbia empty well in hand as they head up the hill at Mississippi Street. This is one of those summer only spots.

I got another shot checked off the bucket list. This angle was recently opened up with the construction of a new parking area for Metro Transit bus employees.

I'm going to have to perfect this shot, perhaps an over under with a UP roadrailer?

DSRC 4427 has just departed Mitchell and is rolling through the country side. Next stop Mount Vernon for a set out. The midday puffy coulds have yet to burn off, creating shadows on the hills.

The tracks must follow this old Indian trail for a ways as we came across a couple of these signs while taking the back roads between Midland and JC Siding.

Sometimes you get lucky. Seems like most of the time the clouds win, but on this occasion a sucker hole opened up as B02 continued its trek north to Belle Fourche.

Cloud banged. As the train approached, one of the big puffys moved in to block the sun. What do you do when the light is garbage? Turn it black and white of course.

I found this gem on the PRC of all places, waiting for a crew on CP 570 to take it east. I don't do a lot of freight car rosters but this was worth a shot.
