Back of wadham lifeliner in scrapyard

Wadham lifeliner now too far gone to be saved. The saloon glass is missing from the bodywork but is sat on the floor intact. Bodyside GRP has a severe chunk taken out on the trailing edge.

1983 Ford Transit Mk2/Wadham lifeliner POP 450Y. Former Shropshire Ambulance service seen tenaciously clinging to existance still now minus engine, gearbox, front end has been pulled down, bonnet crumpled, dashboard pulled out, nearside attendants door pulled off runner. The remains of the ends of two tone horns are inside the engine bay, the trumpets long since gone.

Love this, it's on a private drive a 1980 Land Rover series III/Marshalls of Cambridge ex RAF. I read online somewhere that aparrently the RAF ambulance's had a different bumper to the army. Painted white with a white on green cross where the red cross would have been. The registration has been blanked out as I took this passing on the road and have cropped the photo to avoid giving the location away (but those who know the location also know this ex ambulance is on google streetview as well)

This Ford Transit/UVG Lazer in its rather striking livery was one of the early examples used by Medical Services north east limited who went on to become a major contractor for the Teesside hospitals. Seen here in Marton near Middlesbrough in 2004.

A Marchalls of Cambridge Land Rover series III seen with St John Ambulance Bedfordshire ownership which if its the same one I am thinking of was brought from the Millitary for there to be a 4x4 ambulance operated. It gained little favour with crews as the stretchers were very high for loading.

C302 YWY a 1985 Ford Transit with what I think is a Steerdrive or Mellor body as the over cab fairing is greatly different from the Hanlon body and the wadham stringer Pioneer series of a similer shape. Anyway, its a west yorkshire registered ambulance seen with with St John Ambulance City of Durham. A sister vehicle from this fleet was operated by the Newton Aycliffe division of St John Ambulance Durham www.flickr.com/photos/teessideambulances/3027453797/in/se...

A 1986 Ford Transit converted from what looks to be a mini bus to an ambulance of the British Red Cross London branch, Cheam centre. It is flanked by a 1977 Bedford CF/Wadham series X and a Hanlon Hi Line.

Cab AVS 571N the 1974 Ford Transit/Hanlon ambulance seen at the shildon Lorry Museum. The bucket inside the cab look ominous! The layout for the automatic transmission can be seen.
