Taking advantage of the early morning crust on the Spring snow, Joanna & I took a walk across the valley to look for wildlife tracks. Along the way the sound of the snow "Whompfing under our weight, scared a Wolf enough to bark at us like a frightened dog.

After deciding the best place to dig down to find surface water under 8 feet of snow; Dave Kahn (Western Water) collects surface water samples. Above the snow it was -10 and blowing, but in the hole Dave was quite comfortable and warm

Weather Haven supplied 12 sleeping, 1 Dinning and 1 Ablution (Washrooms) tents, Geotech drilled the well, NWPumbing &Heating of Smithers built the water plant and potable water systems, Peak Welco the waste water plant, Alpine Electric from Smithers wired the camp systems and installed 2 new Gensets, a 100 kW & 30 kW, an Environ tank for diesel fuel was brought and plumbed by Northern Petro Tech of Terrace, and Tower Radio of Terrace installed the comm systems with 3 phone lines, internet and 3 repeaters to allow field crews as far away as Dease Lake to use Radio comm in the field to speak to camp; things were beginning to take shape

The winter of 2007-08 brought so much snow the Buck bush was buried completely, and with the creek water frozen, we would snowshoe almost anywhere to keep fit on the nicer days. Sunglasses and sunscreen were a must!
