These women are not geiko/maiko, just women dressed in japanese traditionnal clothes. Actually they are in front of the famous Ichiriki Chaya tea house, probably the most well known ochaya (geisha "tea house") in Kyoto. A part of the 47 ronin story took place there.

While I walked in the street of Kyoto seeking for a restaurant, I was fortunate to encounter a maiko, her name is Fukucho.
Taking a geiko/maiko in picture is not an easy task, they walk rapidly and they can vanished as quick as they appeared in front of you, but if you can find a quiet street with no tourists they are more relax and you could have enough time to grab your gear, adjust it and take a nice photograph.
