Hanoi, Vietnam – Born in Da Nang in 1931, Le Cong Thanh grew up and worked in the north. Graduated from the Hanoi Fine Art Institute in 1962 and was a teacher at the Hanoi Fine Art University from 1963 to 1968. Had close association with Nguyen Tu Nghiem, Bui Xuan Phai and Nguyen Sang. Studied art in Russia from 1968 to 1970.
He now lives and works together with his painter wife, Nguyen Kim Thai, in Hanoi

An Inuit carver in Iqaluit, Nunavut, carving an Arctic bear
Iqaluit -- (often pronounced IPA) is the territorial capital and the largest community of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. Iqaluit is located on the south coast of Baffin Island at the head of Frobisher Bay. As of the 2006 census the population was 6,184, an increase of 18.1 per cent from the 2001 census; it has the lowest population of any capital city in Canada. Inhabitants of Iqaluit are called Iqalummiut (singular: Iqalummiuq). Prior to 1987 the community was named Frobisher Bay.
