I've always been fascinated by the sea. On that day the wind was extremely strong, creating fabulous waves. The sound reminded me of a jumbo jet taking off! I was the only one on the beach, the sound of the roaring waves was loud, but yet it was such a peaceful place!

Day 6/26... 23-08-2011...few 100km into Spain, south of the Pyrenees. Thanks to the old Michelin map (i dislike tomtom's) I discovered this tiny road, the a132 between Puente la reina de jaca (love the name) and Ayerbe just pass Riglos. I stopped to chat to two spanish riders on KTM, great side road moment that can only be experienced by bikers i think, just there in the middle of nowhere!
And there it was this gorgeous scenary! and boy it was hot! just over 40 celcius ;o)

Day 6/26... 23 august 2011, welcome to spain! a long way from London but so pleased to see this sign! and the heat... so different from the french side.... it felt like being in an oven, even on the motorbike i was hot... it was like having a hairdryer blowing in the face actually ;o)

Day 6/26.... The last of the french side of the Pyrennes, near the Tourmalet pass, soon I was going to ride on spanish tarmac... ole!

Day 6/26.... making my way to the last pass, the Tourmalet. The fog had gone as quickly as it arrived and already the temperature was around 25 degres even at 2000m high.

Day 6/26, still in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park. All over sudden, thick fog with less than 6ft visibility, and the most dangerous things on the road were not cars... but cows!
Had to stop and photograph the Tour de France markings that fans leave behind when they come and see their heros.... I did not have a clue who was Thomas Vockler until my friend's daughter told me she knew him... and she is not really a cyclist fan but he is suppose to be good looking, and a fairly good cyclist too ;o)

this was on day 6/26, 1300 miles now since London.
In the middle of the Pyrenees, Col du Soulor (el. 1474 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Pyrenees in France, linking Argelès-Gazost with Arthez-d'Asson. It connects the Ouzom and Arens valleys.

The road is occasionally used in the Tour de France cycling race.

The views are stunning and it is hard not to stop and admire the beauty of the mountains! Luckyly it was towards the end of august and most tourists had gone back home!
