Eilean Donan Castle is Scotland's most photographed castle and one of the icons of Scotland. Eilean Donan (Scottish Gaelic for Island of Donan), is a small island in Loch Duich in the western Highlands of Scotland. It is connected to the mainland by a footbridge and lies about half a mile from the village of Dornie. Eilean Donan is named after St. Donan, a celtic saint martyred in the Dark Ages. As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries.

I have recently bought new ND filter - B&W ND 3.0 which allows to take long exposures during a day. It is quite difficult to fully use its potential here in Middle East as we hardly ever have any clouds in the sky, therefore I was looking forward to my trip to Nordics. Such a long exposure as 181 sec can completely transform ordinary scene into dream world.
