Roof of pumping station at Dollis Hill. Built by the Victorians to house large steam powered pumps. These have now given way to steam but the roof remains, an example of the enduring quality of engineering from the 19th century.

Since these pictures were taken the continuing development of Canary Wharf means that the view to the east is now blocked by the new head quarters buildings of HSBC and Citibank.

Occasionally the world cooperates and presents an opportunity where all you have to do is point the camera and press the shutter release. Shots that do it all for you, luckily the camera was to hand to get the pictures.

Seem to remember that I came across this bicycle while looking for a beer on a hot afternoon in Copenhagen. It appeared to be most content sitting on a bridge soaking up the afternoon rays.

This was the sight that regularly greeted me on my way in to work. Looking down stream from Blackfriars Station the two towers of the LIFFE building are on the left and HMS Belfast’s radar mast in the middle of Tower Bridge.
