Simple shot, expose for the sky, set the off camera flash and bang! The teeth will do the rest :-) The barracuda is a mean looking fish, and for this reason is one of the most beautiful to photograph.

This is quite an exciting lure to photograph. The texture is great, the tiny fins, the big eye.... For this image I wanted to sort of "match" the colors, this is why I put a red light against the black background.

I love when the sky gets so dramatic and with a bit of contrast and clarity you can make it look like Morodor's. Anyway, there's a bucket of artificial light here coming from a SB800 off camera.

Sometimes I like to change the angle of a shot and in this case I had a good reason for it. The paint and decoration of the back of the lure is worth a good look, this is whi I enhanced it by using this position.

Flat backgrounds are ok, I like when you can get that smooth reflection on it and the absence of any spilled light. Thus, I also love what the light can do on a wrinkled or slightly messed up background, such in this image.

One of the million members of the Snapper family, maybe a Ruby Snapper (Etelis carbunculus), but is hard to tell. This is quite an old photo of mine that I sometimes bring back to life because of the colro contratst: res, yellow and blue.

Black on Black, kind of a tough deal yet quite intriguing. For this image I used a couple of softboxes on the SB800s; one light on camera left and the other one on camera right placed slightly behind the jig.

This is a tiny XIIIth century chuirch in a small town in Spain. I liked the fresco, not restored yet, and bent my neck back to grab a hand held shot. Decent sharpness at f4 1/13sec with the Tokina 11-16mm lens at its maximum wide angle.

Is not easy to shoot soft plastic lures, they are sort of anonymous and flat and is quite hard to put them in a position that is not flat on the table. Anyway, this is quite a nice one to photograph, it has shape, form and is oily and darn reflective. They usually make a mess of the shiny black surface :-)

Windmills in Consuegras, Toledo, Spain.

This is quite a cool place in the hearth of Spain, Castilla la Mancha, the land of Don Quijote. In Consuegras there are 12 pretty well preserved windmill dating back to the half end of the XVI century. One of them can also be visited inside, I have some images of that too, I might post them soon. As usual the sun in the image is a must go for me, and I think that the little girl standing in the middle of the two windmills is quite a fortunate coincidence

Following David Hobby's tutorial on how to build a small product light box I built mine, and it obviously came up with some flaws, this clumsy I am :-) Thus, this is what I have used to take this picture, with one speedlight on each side. It is actually a very easy way to take product shots, unless you are looking for special lighting effects.

Dozens of boats with Yamaha enduro, two strokes engines, forbidden in many western countries, on the beach in oman. This was quite an impressive view to be honest, in the morning you would see none while in the afternoon they would all be sitting under the sun.

Is one light enough? It depends on what you're looking for. In this case I didn't want the whole object to be visible, hence I put one 40" Lastolite Umbrella Softbox with a SB800 and bang! Thus, if I wanted to have the right side of the grip to be more visble I should have used, at least, one reflector. This way is more of an emotional and dramatic shot rather than a straight product shot. I'd like to hear what you think about it, thanks. Ciao

Don't know how you guys feel about this kind of images. Looks a tad unreal, with such a black background but thing is, that apart from few blotches it was pretty dark already. I only edited to make it completely black, in order to have the swan popping out against it.

Lately I have dropped a bit the ultra wide angle and put back the old Nikkor 35mm f2. There are several reasons for me for such change, but one of them is that this lens allows me to shoot some pretty cool close ups and deliver an amazing amount of details. Open the full size of this shot and you will see it by yourself.

This is the Monument of Light, AKA Spire, a tall (121.2 meters) monument sitting in O'Connell Street in Dublin. To make this shot I glued my belly to the column and shot it looking upward with an 11mm Tokina. Is one of those images that need to be seen more than once to understand it... :-)
