I am happy that I experienced the incredible atmosphere of the London 2012 Paralympic games inside the new Olympic Stadium. Very impressed with the enthusiastic crowd, the efficiency of the volunteers and the great effort and skills of the Paralympians. Many World Records broken...

London 2012 Olympic Stadium

An Olympic Stadium with such a large removable element and mix of permanent and temporary seating has never been attempted before.

The Stadium is also the most sustainable ever built for an Olympic Games. The lower tier sits within a bowl in the ground, which minimises the use of construction materials. This bowl was created by excavating 800,000 tonnes of soil, the majority of which was cleaned and reused elsewhere on the Olympic Park.

Around 10,000 tonnes of steel were used to build the venue – significantly less than in other Olympic stadiums, making its construction more sustainable. The top ring of the Stadium was built using surplus gas pipes – a visual testament to London 2012's efforts to 'reduce, reuse and recycle'.
Construction began in May 2008 and was completed in just under three years, with the final piece of turf laid in March 2011.

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Battersea, an inner-city district of South London. It comprises two individual power stations, built in two stages in the form of a single building. Battersea A Power Station was built in the 1930s, with Battersea B Power Station to its east in the 1950s. The two stations were built to an identical design, providing the well known four-chimney layout. The station ceased generating electricity in 1983, but over the past 50 years it has become one of the best known landmarks in London and is Grade II* listed. The station's celebrity owes much to numerous cultural appearances, which include a shot in The Beatles' 1965 movie Help!, and being used in the cover art of Pink Floyd's 1977 album Animals. In addition, a photograph of the plant's control room was used as cover art on Hawkwind's 1977 album Quark, Strangeness and Charm.
I saw these buildings on my way to Tower Hill from London bridge station, one of them is the Ernst&Young.
I always like to capture the modern architecture in London with a different perspective

London (pronounced /ˈlʌndən/) is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. It is the UK's largest and most populous metropolitan area and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures.

A major settlement for two millennia, its history goes back to its founding by the Romans, who called it Londinium.[6] London's core, the ancient City of London, the 'square mile', retains its mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the nineteenth century, the name "London" has also referred to the metropolis developed around it.[7] Today, the bulk of this conurbation forms the London region[8] and the Greater London administrative area,[9] with its own elected mayor and assembly.[10]

London is a leading global city and one of the world's largest financial centres[11][12][13][14] with the largest city GDP in Europe.[15] Central London is home to the headquarters of most of the UK's top 100 listed companies (the FTSE 100) and more than 100 of Europe's 500 largest. London's influence in politics, finance, education, entertainment, media, fashion, the arts and culture in general contributes to its global position. It is a major tourist destination for both domestic and overseas visitors. London hosted the 1908 and 1948 Summer Olympics and will host the 2012 Summer Olympics.[16] London contains four World Heritage Sites: the Tower of London; the historic settlement of Greenwich; the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; and the site comprising the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church.[17]

London has a diverse range of peoples, cultures, and religions, and more than 300 languages are spoken within its boundaries.[18] In July 2007 it had an official population of 7,556,900 within the boundaries of Greater London,[19] making it the most populous municipality in the European Union.[20] The Greater London Urban Area (the second largest in the EU) has a population of 8,278,251.[2] while the metropolitan area (the largest in the EU) has an estimated total population of between 12 million[3] and 14 million.[4] The London Underground network, administered by Transport for London, is the most extensive underground railway network in the world,[21] London Heathrow Airport is the world's busiest airport by number of international passengers[22] and the airspace is the busiest of any urban centre in the world.
