A first attempt at aviation photography with John Fanning. This was taken from Cad West at the Mach Loop in Snowdonia where the military practice their low level flying. We stood up on the side of the valley for hours with a group of dedicated enthusiasts all waiting for the rush of excitement as a jet (occasionally) came screaming through.

Patience, good eyesight and fast reactions are key to capturing these slippery beggars as they whizz past you at many hundreds of mph, unfortunately I don't have any of those attributes lol, but I did manage to get lucky with a few shots. Definitely want to return to this soon ;-)

Here's one from a few weeks back, taken nearly an hour after a rather disappointing sunset. The colours are straight out of the camera, in fact, apart from the RAW conversion and some minor tidying up in CS5 this has hardly been 'processed' at all. Hope you like it.

Beams at the Bill

Some late night malarkey at Portland Bill with my ever patient partner in crime John Fanning.

We hunkered down by some old huts to shelter from the biting cold wind, waiting for it to get dark enough for the beams to show up against the night sky....no fun!

This is a two shot blend, captured from almost total darkness, one fast frame to 'freeze' the 4 beams and one slow frame to expose the land and buildings. Hope you like it ;-)

The 'Hemisferic' in all it's illuminated glory, an amazing sight at nightime when the dazzling lights and reflections combine to create this sci-fi centrepiece at the City of Arts & Sciences, Valencia.

This structure is actually a massive 3D IMAX Cinema, the centre dome is the projection room with a concave screen of 900 square metres....... in case you were wondering ;-)

Another from Valencia, a late night view across the flyover bridge with the Agora building to to the left. The bridge is an impressive structure with its steel support struts anchored to gigantic concrete feet, the shadows on the nearest foot created a quite dainty looking ballet type shoe.....nice!

One from the lakeside at Thirlmere, taken with the EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, I used this lens more than any other during this trip, great piece of glass.
