After a large storm went through. Opposite of this is a rainbow with pink clouds and lightening which I am pretty excited about working on :)

The irises are blooming in my front yard. If I take a picture of the flowers and sky separately this is what they look like together, but if I take a picture of them together my camera won't let me control the exposure... sooooo this is a composite of the flowers and the sky.

I had the following going through my head when editing it. I tend to not like Bible verses tacked onto pictures as afterthoughts, but since this one was designed with it in mind hopefully it communicates the idea well enough ~except they aren't li!!ies O_o

Sometimes in literature or movies you have these very mundane and ordinary scenes, but the writing, the scenery, all those little details are in such great order that although the moment is composed of ubiquity it is something that draws you in and is memorable. You take it with you wondering why you never saw it before.

If I can learn how to take the ordinary dimensions tune them a little, portray thier unique properties etc - I really want to learn how to do that!

This tree is ordinary, I tried to make it interesting, but it started looking over processed. I still like the idea for now (looks better on black though). It's a step in the right direction. Not there yet... but I shouldn't stop. I have to stay true to my internal vision otherwise I give myself up. I become ordinary. I've been struggling a little in my head a/b these things lately.

All I did this weekend was eat, sleep, and watch hulu -so today I tried to be more productive.

This was taken at an abandoned golf course which has made for some fun exploring (except apologizing to the jogger he chased down - Sorry).

Took apart a cheapo telescope to see if I could get DOF. Used 3 clippy lights. It actually worked, but made shooting in low light really difficult because you can't move the camera (trigger right hand) or the lens (left hand).

trying to make pictures for public display. I think this style will work and the one entitled 'still to bloom' but want to make with longer stems and curves to see if it is more elegant.

I went to my first strobist meet.

Things I learned (or need to learn):
- Know some poses and if they will work for the clothing.
- Keep it simple, but don't be afraid to change things. For instance I never changed the lights. I just left them the way the person before me had them. I would have learned more if I would have changed them once.
- Take lots of shots. I took 45 b/c I had too many things on my mind, but should have just been hitting the trigger even if there wasn't any thought to it.
- Don't look at the camera all the time trying to figure out how it works or how the shot looks. I think I am going to do Aperature Priority next time (unless there is something wrong w/ that). I don't really know enough to go manual and have the extra stuff to set for every shot.
- It's kind of dumb, but I didn't even think a/b there being a proper way to hold the camera and a stance to minimize shaking/blurs
- My computer flipped out on raw files, and can't handle the file size from a Canon 5D very well.
- Don't beat yourself up.

Next time I am hoping to have 2 or 3 light patterns know how to set them up. And have some ideas sketched out a/b what I want my finished shot to look like.

Going to a strobist meet this weekend. Trying to learn about lighting (image photoshopped [little bit sloppy too]). Going to buy a book on Friday. Don't have any strobes or a camera to trigger them yet (will have to rent one). Any advice at all would be great since I have to rent a camera, pay for gas to drive up there.... and would like a decent shot or two
