It was as if the world totally changed while on this Catalonian beach. We looked into the East, to the Mediterenian horizons, and we saw the sun rising slowly in the skies. Well, while in Israel, when you look into the Mediterenian horizons and see the sun, it is already setting, and you're actually looking into the West. Big difference! *s*.

Nothing like the open road to fill the heart and mind with a sense of freedom and anticipation. It will take you somewhere, it will bring surprises your way, it will almost let you fly... low.

The amazing sheer size of the Rockies is often enough to create amazement and happiness in your being, even if the earth around is still wearing her winter cloths. Greens just makes it all more intense, but the Rockies are those who are responsible for your feelings.
Finally, the weather got warm enough to make us go out and enjoy a wonderful sun, though the wind is a bit on the rampage side. The gorillas at the Calgary zoo seemed to enjoy the sunny they in their courtyard, thought you won't see that on their faces. We have to wonder sometimes if they like this kind of life...

Sorry for being behind on visits and commenting... I'll come back later tonight, hopefully after catching some nice photos and sights in the mountains. Must get out and just enjoy the weather *s*.

Another capture from that amazing day we visited one of Antoni Gaudí's most amazing houses in Barcelona - Casa Milà. The post processing took me to a somewhat different place this time. A place of respect, veneration, deference. This guy was a giant, and that's what his work made me feel. And yes, there's drama everywhere you look while there. Go! Visit! *s*.

The top floor, attic and the extraordinary roof of Casa Milà are open to visitors. It utilizes many materials and shapes that cover the ventilation towers and chimneys for the building.

The roof is probably the most intriguing part of the building. It features a number of surrealistic colorful chimneys, all looking different and like sculptures standing there alone or in small groups, dominating the rooftop. The claim in the sources is that many of them look like warriors in a Sci Fi movie, and others look like they’re making faces. Moshe said they looked like soldiers to him while we were up there, taking photos like there was no tomorrow. Me? I was thinking about the angry Eagle from the Muppets Show. That’s who those strange chimneys reminded me of.

From the rooftop of Casa Milà, you have a wonderful view over the Eixample district surrounding it, and other parts of the city. It sure was an amazing experience to be up there!

Almost a year ago, we had a walk in this area. There was no sign of snow, the river was open and running, the day was gorgeous. Today, there's still snow around, and the river is not totally open yet, thought it's getting there. Really, it's time for the trees to bloom, the soil to be covered with grass, and the temps to go above 10 C. It's spring already, no? *s*.

Playing with the Topaz adjust filter (got a free 30 days trial from their site) and checking on what it can do. So far, it feels nice and have some great functions, nothing that I can't achieve with my other programs, but everything is very easy to get to. Would love to hear some constructive feedback from those of you who tried this filter, and from everybody else as well. Thanks *s*.
This bald eagle is Lincoln. While visiting the Coaldale facility in 2009 we were fortunate to see Lincoln getting a shower. This guy likes his daily showers, and even demanded it when the girl who gave him the shower diverted the water stream towards another bird, a hawk, who seemed to hate it. It was fun watching their different reactions and behavior.

Holocaust Remembrance Day - the Israeli and Jewish nation officially commemorates and remembers today the 6,000,000 Jews murdered by the Nazis and their helpers during WW2, as well as those who rose up in revolt against the Nazi barbarism.

i always pose on this day, here in my cozy home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to think about my roots, where I came from, where I belong. And it's always accompanied with pain and tears, because after so many years of hearing the stories and seeing the sights - the mind still can't stand the thought that so much cruelty was once released into the world with the sole purpose of exterminating a whole nation, like we were bugs.

1/3 of the Jewish nation was destroyed in the Holocaust. We are determined to remember what happened to us, and not allow it to ever happen again.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Sacred forest is a forest planted by the Jewish National Fund in the Jerusalem hills. Unlike other JNF forests, Sacred forest was planted not only for forestry, but for the perpetuation of six million European Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. This forest was planted with 6 million trees in memory of the victims.

One of the place to visit in Sacred forest is the Scroll of Fire monument - a bronze statue at the top of an 8 meter summit level, shaped like the Torah (bible) two cylinders. One is called the "Holocaust" and the other is called "Rebirth". This monument is dedicated to those who perished in the Holocaust. The statue, made by the Israeli artist Nathan Rapoport, was inaugurated in 1972.

The bronze monument is rising to 8.5 m high and weighs about 12 ton. The Holocaust side tells the history of the nation before the state of Israel was established again. It describes the destruction of the Jewish people in their rebellion against the Romans and the European Holocaust. The second cylinder describes the rebirth of the Jewish nation: Immigration, the War of Independence, the State of Israel and the reunification of Jerusalem in the Six Day War.

Right along Highway #3, at the southwestern end of Alberta, before you cross the mountains to BC at Crowsnest Pass, there's a hidden gem that makes a great place to stop for a picnic, camp, or just enjoy the scenery. Lundbreck Falls (the Crowsnest River) take a 12 m (30 feet) tumble into the canyon below. Along the years the water created a nice gorge you can hike into and enjoy nature. The fishing is possible there too.

If you walk a bit behind the falls, you can follow this old train track, which just end at one point. This photo was taken there, looking deep into the past of the area, when trains still passed there. Can you see the Ghost train? *s*.
