Jurgen Kuschnik, one of the finest camera service experts has suddenly passed away, I am deeply saddened and my deepest condolences to his family.

I have had the opportunity three years ago to get my Rolleiflex SL66 serviced from him, we talked over the phone, he was truly a passionate expert. Over the phone, he quickly identified the issue with my camera and offered a very reasonable price.

I sent the camera to him, and few weeks later, my camera came back as good as new, he said if I take care of the camera, it will last for a life time to come. He also talked pros and cons of the camera, taught me few tricks and tips on how to take care of it, I benefited from the conversations so much.

But now he has passed away, all the skills, expertise, passions are gone with him.

Rest in peace, Mr Jurgen Kuschnik, I will take care of the camera, and use it properly, thank you!

About the Technician

Jurgen Kuschnik was born, educated and trained as a photographic equipment service expert in Western Germany. His experience includes over 30 years in the professional and collectible camera service industry.
In his early years, Kuschnik completed trade school and was certified as a mechanical precision instrument technician, serving an apprenticeship with international electronic part and component manufacturer, Hartmann & Braun.
Soon after, camera manufacturer RolleiWerke hired and trained him as a service technician, promoting him through the ranks to supervisor and eventually to international branch service manager in their subsidiary, Rollei of America’s Los Angeles, California branch. Because of his excellent English language skills and his factory expertise, Kuschnik was given the responsibility of training technicians in both the U.S. and in Canada. He worked for Rollei for 12 years.

For over two decades, Kuschnik has been self-employed as a camera service expert expanding his training and knowledge to include many collectible cameras and several of the finest professional cameras manufactured today. He received recognition for his skills in the book, Collectors Guide to Rollei Cameras.

On a remote island in HK, we saw this creepy little farm that has a feel of "the walking dead", big toy bear was hanging in the middle of the yard, dogs barking like crazy, we ran off.
