The Seward Park High School Evacuation Center for Hurricane Irene already has people signing in on Saturday morning. The instructions are elegantly printed in Spanish, Chinese and English.

New Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott is in the background giving the mayor a sidelong glance at a rare moment of cheer between the Department of Education and the teachers' and principals' unions. It was a June, 2009, press conference at at Public School/Middle School 15 in the Bronx announcing math score improvements.
