I made an innocuous comment about a slice of vegan pizza almost five years ago, but that cute cooker, Sally, and I married this weekend!

We were lucky enough to have the super talented and nice Melody Chipe take these photos for us.

We've spent the last three weeks travelling around the coast of Greece, parking our campervan at a different beach almost every night. At first I saw the water, the different types of sand and pebbles and felt the warmth of the sun, but not long after I started to notice the plastic bottle tops - dotted along every tide line like colourful little seashells. I began picking them up to recycle (I can only presume that the bottles themselves are now slumbering on the seabed), but quickly became fond of them. A rare yellow one was like finding treasure! Each was slightly worn, each had basked in the sun, had had adventures through waves and many journey's up and down shore. And despite them being 'rubbish' they seemed to both embody and reflect the qualities and characteristics of the seaside we have come to love!

Who'd have thought one could go to the beach every day and swim in beautifully warm water during the month of October in Europe? Certainly not I coming from England or Sally coming from Australia. But it's true, one can! :)

This was taken at Voidokilia Beach, in south-west Greece. The sun had gone in by the time we made it to the Medieval castle perched on the hill above (see below), but it's shape noted by Homer in The Odyssey nearly 3000 years ago is extraordinary. :)

I found these mushrooms whilst chasing sheep out of the kale field today. I didn't have a bag, so I wrapped them in my shirt and hurried home to make soup. :)
