Upon returning to Canadastan, it would appear that the hot shoe on the 1DMkIIN is having issues firing my remote triggers consistently, so we'll be sending her back to Canon Canada for some servicing :( Fortunately, I have a) a bunch of awesome strobed shots already snapped, and b) the Panasonic LX5 can fire the strobez as well (it's just much more difficult to shoot bikes / fun with).

Joel promises to wear something brighter next time.

After a day of intense rain on oahu, and time spent running along the beach, shopping, visiting pineapple farms and swap meets, we finally made the loooong bus trip out of honolulu to check out the place that the old queens of hawaii used to go to in order to give birth. officially one of the coolest spots of the trip.

The vacation has been so super awesome so far, that I have spent nearly no time in front of the computer uploading images.

Last night we woke up at the god-awful hour of 1AM and made the drive up to the top of Haleakala for some stargazing and to watch the sun rise in the "House of the Sun".

To say that it was epic would be an understatement.

I have my two finals this week, and then we're taking off for Hawaii for 10 days immediately thereafter. So this weeks strobed shot is from the mega man-date with motay earlier this year. I love this one, maybe even more than the other one (although the stunt looks way more bitchin' in the other).

I knew that we needed to get at least one more strobed shot with the sakura before the rain returns and washes 90% of them away - so tonight we struck quickly in between work, supper, groceries, showering, class, homework, and talking to okaasan in jpn.

Mom and Dad are in town this weekend on their way back home from Rossland, so we've been spending most of the weekend out wandering around town with them, eating delicious treats. Every now and again, we also stop and check out the flowers / cherry / plum blossoms.

It's been a super busy week here at chateau jackson, so I just snapped off a quick one the other evening between work and school. Some of my favorite "things":

- the watch my parents gave me for my 21st birthday
- the wallet that mika picked up for me on our last vacation to japan
- the $15 red tie that i was married in
- the windstopper blazer that was custom sized for me that i was married in

Well unofficially it's now official - WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!

We had our detailed ultrasound the other day and found out the sex, so rumour has it that it's all down hill from here :D As of March 13th, we're sitting at 22 weeks in, with a due date of July 17th. Super, super stoked!

1 canon 430ex @ 1/32 bounced off the ceiling to the right, and another behind me at 1/16 bounced off the ceiling. Both triggered by elinchrom skyports.

Back in Feb when we were in Revelstoke for 3 days of shredding epic powder at the resort, I took a rest day to finish up some home for school. Sometime shortly after noon, however, I managed to finish up my homework, and then a group of us went out in search of shenanigans. After much wandering, I wandered off and took some photos (such as this one), before returning to the game of "throw the rock through the hole in the ice from the last rock", and won the double crown. I rock.

This Wednesday, there was call for snowfall a plenty, so 4 excellent dude-brahs (Joel, Liam, Michael and I) answered the call of the gnarly and found ourselves standing at the top of Mount Seymour with 60+cm of freshies from the last two days at our feet.

Although our first stop of the day wound up being mostly unfruitful for anyone except Mike (partly on account of focusin treachery), the second stop wound up being a banger factory. Michael and Liam got started out the fun with some super awesome hand drags over the pillow, and after Joel showed up and sent the pillow LARGE, things got ridiculous. Liam finished off the night with this most excellent Rodeo 7, that I miraculously timed perfectly with my frozen fingers. Super stoked on this one.

After crushing a large number of beers after a day of epic shredding on the slopes of Revelstoke Mountain Resort a couple of weeks ago, Darren, his lady Edith and myself decided that it was time to light a bonfire and check out the stars. However, before that, I asked them to do something cute under the stars so that I could get at least one strobed shot to commemorate the weekend.

Although we didn't have the classic North Shore fog that Morgan and I were hoping for, it was still a cloudy and scattered rainy type day on the shore yesterday - pretty much perfect for crossing this shot off my bucket list, and this hop to roll to huck of motay's bucket list.

Then we followed it up with an excellent shralp of the north shore classic "pipeline" :D

This one's for the ladies (and gentlemen, too) - Happy Valentine's Day :D

I got this idea a couple of weeks back when I was taking some of the head to toe colour matching gore-tex shots, and I pretty much laughed the entire time I was setting up for this one. Holding a serious face for long enough for it was seriously difficult.

I actually snapped this one before the last shot with Larz, but here it is now. I went out into the wilds of Kits with Andrew Teit and company, and after battling a pack of coyotes, they got to work shredding their pumptrack, while I got to work taking photos with my single strobe.

I've got a fair number of excellent, excellent shots under wraps now, so choosing the next one was difficult. Almost as difficult as thinking of which of the many ideas I have that I could do real justice to with just 1 full working receiver/adaptor/flash combo.

So in the end I chose this one, which Larzipan and I banged out this evening up on Hollyburn. I'm SO pumped with how this turned out, it's pretty much exactly what I had in mind before going up there.

I can also now cross "night time headlamp ski touring" off of my bucket list :D

My friend Joel, who besides being most excellent at most things, is an awesome shredder and has committed himself to riding his snowboard everyday throughout this January.

I definitely have toned down the skiing for the past couple of weeks, on account of the lack of fresh snow, but he's been taking advantage of this time by killing it in the park, and it shows.

Here's a crop of one of my favourites from Sunday's park throwdown (if not my absolute favorite).
