About

This is one of those images that just works, problem is you either love it or you don't -I'm in the middle, because I can be, I'm the Photographer.

What do you think?

I've always believed Photography is about contrast and saturation -which is why B/W Photography is so popular.

Choose a place to sit in these clouds -let me know what you like and what you don't like.
About Ansel Easton Adam

Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist, best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West, especially in Yosemite National Park. One of his most famous photographs was Moon and Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, California.

With Fred Archer, Adams developed the Zone System as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs and the work of those to whom he taught the system. Adams primarily used large-format cameras, despite their size, weight, setup time, and film cost, because their high resolution helped ensure sharpness in his images.

Adams founded the Group f/64 along with fellow photographers Edward Weston and Imogen Cunningham, which in turn created the Museum of Modern Art's department of photography. Adams's timeless and visually stunning photographs are reproduced on calendars, posters, and in books, making his photographs widely recognizable.

On a trip in New Mexico weeks before the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Adams shot a scene of the Moon rising above a modest village with snow-covered mountains in the background, under a dominating black sky. The photograph is one of his most famous and is named, Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico. The photograph's fame was probably enhanced by Adams's description in his later books of how it was made: the light on the crosses in the foreground was rapidly fading, and he could not find his exposure meter; however, he remembered the luminance of the Moon, and used it to calculate the proper exposure.

About Peter Lik

Peter Lik (born 1959 in Melbourne) is a self taught Australian landscape photographer who took to the medium when young. While traveling in Alaska in 1994 Lik began to experiment with panoramic cameras. He is known for his limited editions, and has sold $150 million worth to date.

Lik was born to Czech immigrant parents. He discovered photography at a young age. He was given a Brownie camera for his 8th birthday and within minutes was taking photos of the drops of dew on a spider web. He spent time exploring places few have seen in the Australian outback.

Lik started his own business when he was in his early twenties in the United States, photographing locations like Yosemite National Park and selling them directly to companies that used them. After discovering panoramic photography while in Alaska while using a Linhof 617 he decided to return home after a fellow photographer told him to 'go big or go home'. Deeply affected by this statement, he did both. After seeing some of the other work on the market and how his own was being used only for advertising, he published a small range of postcards himself with the money he had saved up from traveling. Lik opened his first gallery in his hometown of Cairns, Australia, which was followed almost immediately by a second in Port Douglas, Queensland.

As of June 2010, Lik has 13 galleries around the world, including ones in Noosa, Hawaii, La Jolla, California, Key West and Miami, Florida, New York City and Las Vegas.

Lik is mainly a landscape photographer, but also does cityscapes. His photography features dramatic lighting, angles and settings as well as bright, intense colors.

About The Ocean

An ocean is a major body of saline water, and a principal component of the hydrosphere. Approximately 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by ocean, a continuous body of water that is customarily divided into several principal oceans and smaller seas.

More than half of this area is over 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) deep. Average oceanic salinity is around 35 parts per thousand (ppt) (3.5%), and nearly all seawater has a salinity in the range of 30 to 38 ppt. Scientists estimate that 230,000 marine life forms of all types are currently known, but the total could be up to 10 times that number.

About 'The Presidents of the United States of America'

The Presidents of the United States of America, commonly referred to as The Presidents, is a twice Grammy-nominated. American alternative rock band. The band formed in Seattle, USA, in 1993. The three-piece group currently comprises vocalist and 'basitarist' Chris Ballew, drummer and vocalist Jason Finn with 'guitbassist' and vocalist Andrew McKeag. 'Guitbassist' and vocalist Dave Dederer was a member of the band for 11 years before leaving in 2004. They have released six studio albums since forming in 1993.

The lyrics for 'Peaches' were written about a crush Ballew used to have on a girl. According to him, she had a peach tree in the front of her yard, and when he finally summoned the courage to go talk to her, he stood under the tree and smashed peaches in his fist until he decided not to talk to her.

About Rain

Rain is liquid precipitation, as opposed to other kinds of precipitation such as snow, hail and sleet. Rain requires the presence of a thick layer of the atmosphere to have temperatures above the melting point of water near and above the Earth's surface. On Earth, it is the condensation of atmospheric water vapor into drops of water heavy enough to fall, often making it to the surface. Two processes, possibly acting together, can lead to air becoming saturated leading to rainfall: cooling the air or adding water vapour to the air. Virga is precipitation that begins falling to the earth but evaporates before reaching the surface; it is one of the ways air can become saturated. Precipitation forms via collision with other rain drops or ice crystals within a cloud.

About

La Riviere Bleue - Parc Provincial Province Sud, Beyond Noumea, Southern Province, New Caledonia.

New Caledonia is an amazing island, located in the region of Melanesia in the southwest Pacific ocean, the coastline is exactly what you'd expect from a tropical island, however further inland its very different, in some ways like the outback here in Australia. The red colours reveal the richness of the ground in iron oxides and nickel.

The Southern Province contains the country's only power station, a huge hydro dam. The dam is located on The River Blue (La Riviere Bleue). The nickel rich soil is mined locally.

The weather was not the best on this day unfortunately, so the real contrast of this place was hard to capture, this shot is tropical or the entire area.

Thanks to everyone for visiting my stream, I'm now back in Australia and I'll be catching up on your streams shortly, see you all soon.
About New Caledonia (Nouvelle-Calédonie)

New Caledonia is located in the southwest Pacific Ocean, approximately 1,200 kilometers east of Australia and 1,500 kilometers northwest of New Zealand. The island nation of Vanuatu lies to the northeast.

New Caledonia is made up of a main island, the Grande Terre, and several smaller islands, the Belep archipelago to the north of the Grande Terre, the Loyalty Islands to the east of the Grande Terre, the Île des Pins (Isle of Pines) to the south of the Grande Terre, the Chesterfield Islands and Bellona Reefs further to the west. A territorial dispute exists with regard to the uninhabited Matthew and Hunter Islands, which are claimed by both France (as part of New Caledonia) and Vanuatu.

The Grande Terre is by far the largest of the islands, and the only mountainous island. It has an area of 16,372 square kilometers, and is elongated northwest-southeast, 350 kilometers in length and 50 to 70 kilometers wide. A mountain range runs the length of the island, with five peaks over 1,500 meters (4,900 ft). The highest point is Mont Panié at 1,628 meters (5,341 ft) elevation. The total area of New Caledonia is 19,060 km2, 18,575 km2 of those being land.

New Caledonia is one of the northernmost parts of a (93%) submerged continent called Zealandia. It sank after rifting away from Australia 60–85 million years ago and from Antarctica between 130 and 85 million years ago. New Caledonia itself is separated from Australia since 65 million years ago, and subsequently drifted in a north-easterly direction, reaching its present position about 50 million years ago.

About Noumea

Capital of the French territory New Caledonia, Noumea played an important role in World War II, serving as the headquarters of the United States military in the Pacific. It boasts the most sunshine of any Pacific island capital, and is also the most European-influenced. Called “The Paris of the Pacific,” it features fine French dining, designer boutiques, and cosmopolitan residents. Just off the coast, the longest barrier reef in the world shelters 350 species of coral and 1,500 species of fish.

About Queensland, Australia

Queensland is a state of Australia that occupies the north-eastern section of the mainland continent. It is bordered by the Northern Territory to the west, South Australia to the south-west and New South Wales to the south. To the east, Queensland is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. The state is Australia's second largest by area, following Western Australia, and the country's third most populous after New South Wales and Victoria.

The area was first occupied by Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders, who arrived between 40,000 and 65,000 years ago, according to various dating methods.Later, Queensland was made a British Crown Colony that was separated from New South Wales on 6 June 1859, a date now celebrated state-wide as Queensland Day.

June 6th is also my birthday ;)

About Dawn.

Dawn is the time that marks the beginning of the twilight before sunrise. It is recognized by the presence of weak sunlight, while the sun itself is still below the horizon. Dawn should not be confused with sunrise, which is the moment when the leading edge of the sun itself appears above the horizon.

The duration of the twilight period between dawn and sunrise varies greatly depending on the observer's latitude, from a few minutes in equatorial regions to many hours in polar regions.
