The Vestibule of Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia. It is a 3rd century AD Roman palace which subsequently has been occupied by many other buildings and forms the centre of the old town in Split! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocletian's_Palace

The Shore, Leith -- a landscape built up from many different architectural styles, built over many years...

On the far left is the most recent addition - apartments on Tower Place. Architect was George Arnold for Morrison Homes; built 2001-2002. Immediately in front of them is an old small white lighthouse. The castle like building near the middle of the frame is now the Malmaison Hotel. It was designed by Charles Stuart Still Johnston and was opened in 1885 by the Earl of Roseberry as a Sailor's Home (for 65 officers and seamen, with 50 additional beds in attics to accommodate Naval Rescue men/shipwreck victims). Immediately to the right of that is the round tower which is the remains of a much altered tower windmill. It was built circa 1686 when Robert Mylne of Balfargie undertook to erect 'a wynd mill of the largeness of thretty-two feet diameter over the walls'. Next to that is a four story tenement built in 1802 as a counting house, now with 'The Shore' bar at ground level. The imposing white building is one of the few remaining reminders of Leith's industrial past - George Brown & Sons Engineers. In in front of all that we had a few barges lined up against the dock at the Water of Leith.

Bracing myself to get the shot in the wind. The waves are much higher due to the wind, with the WWII anti-tank wall like a shield to the shore line!

Actually, it was a woman and her dog. The thing on the bank of the river is a ship wreck.

This was my entry in the open category of Panachallenge #44.

This is the mouth of the River Ythan in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Looking out across Foveran Links and Forvie Sands.

The Millennium Bridge is a foot bridge across the Thames in central London. It was designed by Arup, Foster and Partners and Sir Anthony Caro. It opened in June 2000 to long queues of people wishing to cross it! The bridge is aligned so that a clear view of St Paul's Cathedral is seen from across the river, framed by the bridge supports, thus providing a scenic view of the cathedral.
