the art project for the school this week was to make hawk masks. i loved him in his. it's orange and yellow....but the bw edit was my favorite. the photo looks nice on black.

lately ALL he wants to do is play sports with his friends outside. when one friend leaves, it's "who else can come over mommy?"

here, he's ticked off at me because i said....NO more friends, it's homework time/dinnertime/bedtime.

why don't they understand we parents hate it, but...... if we're doing our job right, sometimes we have to be the "bad guys?"

i made this chocolate malted bundt cake for a coffee i hosted. and i allowed myself a piece with coffee as a treat. sigh....it was delicious.

the tulips are from my yard....the only 3 that bloomed this year....they've dwindled. last year, 7 bloomed.......a gorgeous double purple variety.

39/52 ~ b a m (getting there, slowly)

my siblings and our spouses took my parents out to a fancy dinner in chicago's loop for their 40th anniversary. this is the floral arrangement i made for the table. it matched the cake my sister ordered even though we didn't discuss it before-hand.

i guess it's obvious we're sisters...

there's a shot of her in comments....she's so pretty.

i've been eating a carb-free diet for 3 weeks now and just added fruits back in. i missed them like crazy, but i want a big ole' piece of chocolate cake like you wouldn't believe....or a muffin, a donut, a creamy, sugary, iced starbucks .....some italian bread dipped in oil, or a coldstone bowl of ice cream with brownies in it.....the list goes on....

yes, i'm addicted to carbs, being the italian who loves to eat. i'm learning how to say 'no' and have some darn willpower. ugh. it's not easy.

on the bright side, i feel great, have energy to spare, and i get to cheat at a party on saturday night.

they're up and in full bloom....

365 update....still shooting every single day, not as much time to upload....mostly due to re-prioritizing my to-do lists and trying not to get behind on the things i really have to do every day.

i love that i'm picking up my cameras every day. now that spring is arriving....there's much more to for me to shoot in my comfort zone.

this patch of purple, pink, and white hyacinths were here when we moved in and i transplanted them to new locations in our yard. but i've never taken a photo of them! poor neglected little guys. i thought it was time....

so so good, i tell ya. i lament the fact that there's not a lovely independent cafe in sight here in naperville and my husband tells me that's the 'high maintenance me' talking.

of course, we had to go check out camp house in chattanooga when we visited.
