Sweet little cookie boxes, perfect to fill with any little treats you want. Certainly the tops could be decorated any number of ways.

My flickr postings have become very infrequent, because it seems any interest in the photos is quite slim. I have enjoyed sharing my work on Flickr for several years, and cherish the relationships and inspiration I have found here. I will guess that since I now link my photos to my blog, that people may be following the link and viewing the photos there (which is great). Let me know if there are those of you who prefer for some reason to still see photos from me here on Flickr, or if you have found your way to the blog.

Chocolate peppermint cake for our family Christmas celebration. (Chocolate cake, vanilla-peppermint frosting inside, chocolate-peppermint frosting on the outside, and crushed peppermint candies)

This may be the last cake you see from me for a while, as the New Year's resolutions kick in, I may have to start photographing vegetables! =)

This is the third batch of toffee I've made in the last two days. The first batch went straight from the pan to the trash (at some point my butter separated from the sugar and it couldn't be recovered), the second batch was quite good, but just a little on the tacky side. I was determined to get it right, and batch three was the winner! The trick that I think I finally accomplished was heating it very slowly and reaching about 310 degrees (F). I really don't know that the recipe makes a huge difference, they are all quite similar, I think the process itself is the critical issue. I never had the heat on any more than medium (most of the time on medium/low), and was just patient. It took about 35 minutes of almost constant watching and gentle stirring. But the end result... beautiful, rich and crisp. Guess what everyone on my Christmas list is getting this year?

I made a batch of cupcakes this week for my family, and I set aside a couple so I could play with some Valentines ideas.

(I really hate having to stamp my name on my photos, but I've been having a terrible time with people using my photos without permission. I'm happy to share ideas and inspiration, but the photos themselves belong to me! Opps, sorry I had to vent on a photo that should be all about love!)

When I posted the cookie photo yesterday I thought that may be the last photo I'd have for the year, but here I am again! Yesterday was pot-luck again for our Bible study group. I didn't have much time to do anything really fancy, but I thought I could dress up the traditional chocolate/vanilla cupcake a bit. I added a bit of peppermint extract to the frosting, a stripe of red coloring in the piping bag, some crushed peppermints on top, and voila... Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes! =)

As of today (before posting this photo) I have had 99 photos make Explore, I am holding out a little hope that this might be able to help me hit 100. What a fun way to end the year!
