Where The Hell Am I Now?

Day 253 of 365

Last week it was Atlanta, this weekend Ohio and Kentucky. In seven days I was in seven States (and DC which isn't a State, but it also isn't Maryland or Virginia). I am actually looking forward to not having an out of State destination lined up for next weekend. I really need a break from all this travel.

Today I actually did loose track of which State I was in.

Also part of my Photo Essay for Take A Class With Dave And Dave Week 33.

Assignment. Photo Essay. This week you may post as many as 8 images that support a coherent theme. I think a minimum of 5 will be necessary to really explore any subject. Please upload your images from start to finish in one go. Tag with cwd331 to 338 (if you go that far.)

This is the assignment I give to my photo two classes. It's going to challenge you in very different ways than the stand alone assignments. Think about the difficulty you have creating a single image around a subject, now you'll need to look at it from different approachesand really stretch. Does your essay hang together? Does the viewer understand more when it's complete? Are all the images of outstanding quality?

My advice to you is to pick a subject you love, and will be able to express well. Plan your images before, yet be open to the moment during the shooting. Effective planning and understanding will facilitate better responsiveness from you, the artist.

Your essays do not need to follow a timeline, but they should study a single theme. I'm being a bit vague on purpose, I don't want to limit your creativity.

Being that all I've done for the past two weeks is travel I chose that as the topic of my "Photo Essay."

I was bored at the airport in Louisville today. We got there a bit earlier than I would have liked, but with a two hour drive from my friend's house outside of Cincinnati I didn't want to risk missing our flight. I pulled out the camera and had a little fun shooting random stuff.

R2-D2 decided to stow away in my camera bag. He wanted to see Florida. He wanted to jump into line right when we got there. I had to explain to him that Southwest is doing this new loading procedure where they give you a letter and a number and you have to line up that way. No more first come first serve mob scene at the gate.

One guy tries to do something stupid and the rest of the country has to suffer. I've gotten smart about it though and now I wear slip on Airwalks when I fly: easy on, easy off. I really do hate this part of air travel, but what other choice do we have?
