We have had some heavy rain, so my garden's first round of Zinnias are already blown out and setting seed. We planted two packets of seeds about 3 years ago, and now have Zinnias EVERYWHERE! These sprang up as soon as the weather turned warm, so we'll be cutting them back so that the next batch can sprout!

From a site promoting the city of Shenandoah, TX, near The Woodlands: "Named for a city on the Italian Riviera, the Portofino Shopping Center sought to bring classical Italian ambiance to the heart of Texas. The facade of each store in the Portofino Shopping Center has been outfitted with traditional architectural components such as Tuscan, Ionic and Corinthian columns. Each statue was specifically chosen to represent an aspect of Roman culture and aged to add distinction and promote the image of Old World Venice."

This sweet girl has a purple tongue (but isn't a Chow mix). She was a long-term dog with mange at our local Shelter. She was rescued by Operation Pets Alive, treated for her mange and heartworm, and is now heading for a forever home. In spite of spending five months in the Shelter, this petite Cattle Dog/Lab Mix is as calm and kind as can be. She lets kids love on her, lays quietly and maintains great diginity.
