I think he needs his legs waxed now that is spring
even a new hair cut ~ now that would be the thing ;-)
his wings are a little tatty ~ he needs an MOT . . . !
I want to keep him occupied so that he does not land on me :)

the springtime daffodils float along

he liked to dance and was light on his feet
the ladies loved him ~ he danced a treat !
he had blue eyes ~ and a wonderful smile
I will tell you who ~ in a little while !

he could ice skate too ~ he was very good
he played football sometimes if he could !
he was tall and slim and handsome too !
can you guess who he was ~ any clues ?

so tall and smart ~ he cut a fine dash !
and he played the mandolin ~ with such class
he had style and was kind ~ he listened too !
he was my Dad ~ and I miss him its true !

tomorrow is Father's Day in the UK
I have him no longer ~ what can I say !
my memories remain always the same ...
He was the best and John was his name !

and so Jonathan Seagull ~ Forever Free
is how I remember him ~ flying over the sea !
I've said it before ~ and I say it with pride !
I was proud to walk next to him side by side !

Yes I was his little girl and he was my Dad
and sometimes it makes me feel so sad
that I cannot see his face and warm smile

she loved to wear pink ~ it made her think
of petals of flowers ~ and the tender hours
spent in her youth ~ when she was young
those were the days ~ of laughter and fun
and as the years fly ~ like clouds in the sky
the moments they change ~ you'll hear her sigh
shall I wear pink ~ what do you think !
as she washes the dishes ~ stood at the sink

more likely old jeans all faded and frayed
a warm old sweater thats seen better days
as she looks out the window it seems to be grey

as she dries the dishes and puts them away
I wonder whats next ~ you will hear her say ...........

a pile of ironing has to be done !

its cold outside and its trying to rain

~ life of a rose ~

It seemed to be the beginning ~ so very fresh and new
my petals were quite flawless ~ just a hint of morning dew
delicate and undeterred ~ feeling strong and quite alert
I allowed someone to pick me ~ for me it was the first

I then soon discovered ~ that I was one of many
as we were put into a bunch ~ and sold for what ... a penny ....?
no it was not quite like that ~ there was tissue and some ribbon
finally celophane wrapped round ~ then loaded in a waggon

finally it all went dark ~ and it seemed so very cold
in the corner we could see some ~ that were covered all in mold
is this what I came here to be ~ just like all the others
feet stood in cold water ~ and then transported for some lovers

I thought that I would bloom each day ~ in some warm sunshine
that I would end my day maybe ~ somewhere quite sublime
that I would be cared for ~ and nurtured and enjoyed
not stuck in some supermarket store ~ happiness denied

but wait perhaps there is a chance ~ that you will walk my way
perhaps I might just catch your eye ~ you'll stop and smile and pay
the price for my life today ~ it's going for a song !
