U.S. Routes as a Subway Map

The latest in my series of transit map-style diagrams - this time, of the U.S. Highway system. That's U.S. Routes (like Route 66), not to be confused with the newer Interstate Highway system (I-5, I20, etc.). Without a doubt, this is the most complex map of this type I have attempted.

As always, comments, suggestions and corrections are gratefully accepted.

It's been almost two years since I released the first version of my Eisenhower Interstate System in the Style of H.C. Beck's London Underground Diagram, and nothing could have prepared me for the reaction it created. However, in those two years, I've created many more transit-styled diagrams, learning more about the demands of a good transit diagram in the process.

So, I decided to revisit this diagram and fix a few things that were bothering me from the original and apply some new techniques that I've learned along the way. The diagram is now even more London Underground-like, with colours, "station" markers, line thicknesses and curves that more closely match the original. With my growing confidence, there's also a higher level of accuracy, with the I-35 East and West splits in Dallas/Fort Worth and the Twin Cities now shown, as well as correcting the end points of a few routes.

As always, comments are welcome.
