Used to be the City Methodist Church, this building fell into decay and disuse after it was closed in 1975. Even in abandonment, it is beautiful and fascinating to explore. But it also stands open to the elements and vandals as the community could no longer afford the upkeep.

It was not unpleasant to explore this crumbling and yet impressive Gothic structure in the unusually cool spring weather when there were no mosquitoes around. As I stood in the auditorium balcony, I could almost feel the energy of this room when there were so much going here during its heyday.

The colors of this Morning Glory pool used to much more brilliant than they are now. For some unknown reason, visitors kept throwing coins into the pool which blocked the up-flow of hot water from deep underground and some of the more colorful bacteria would not strive if it was not hot enough.

George Mortimer Pullman (March 3, 1831 – October 19, 1897) was an American engineer and industrialist. He designed and manufactured the Pullman sleeping car, and founded a company town, Pullman, for the workers who manufactured it. His Pullman Company also hired African-American men to staff the Pullman cars, who became known and widely respected as Pullman porters, providing elite service.

It was the last week of April and spring still had not arrived yet. Well, at least not in the Midwest because bone-chilling cold wind was blowing like crazy at the sand dune. This Little Sable Point lighthouse is one of the more photogenic structure overlooking the great Lake Michigan.

If I remember it correctly, there were at least three ants crawling all over this wild orchid when I spotted it by the side of the so-called King's Trail in the Waipio Valley. Not sure what the ants were looking for.

This bed and breakfast has a self check-in and check-out policy. When I arrived, the house key was inside an envelope taped on the door outside. During my stay, I never met the people who ran this place. The house was fully furnished and was decorated with many valuables such as figurines, large seashells, souvenirs, paintings, etc. In this library, for example, there were DVDs, video tapes, CDs, books, maps and other things. When I checked out, I locked the door and put the house key in the mail box outside. Before I drove away, I double checked my things just to make sure I did not accidentally borrow anything from inside the house.

I hiked to this Cathedral Lake very early in the morning and there was nobody else around. So I sat down on this granite slab of a lake shore, took out my breakfast and started munching away. The air was so fresh, the sun was so bright and breakfast never tasted this good.

This flower was dangling just inches off the ground. Without the camera's fully articulated LCD, it would be impossible to get a good focus at the right angle.

It is best to explore this lava tube real early in the morning. Any other time of the day this whole place will be swamped with visitors.
