The Scottish Fisheries Protection Vessel 'Minna' passes the Esplanade in Greenock on the first day of British Summer Time with snow on the Argyll Hills. It was planned that there would be two of this Class of vessel to be built but the second ship plan was abandoned as it broke EU procurement rules. She was Clydebuilt by Ferguson Shipbuilders Ltd in Port Glasgow and launched on 3rd February 2003 and named after a character in one of Sir Walter Scott's novels "The Pirate".
HMCC Sentinel

The HMCC Sentinal was launched from Vosper Thornycroft's yard in Porchester in 1995 to an American design licence and she is unique by the fact that she is the only 'Island Class' Cutter in British waters. As you can see here , HM Customs have changed their title to the UK Border Agency. She is seen alongside at the James Watt Docks in Greenock. Originally fitted with Paxman Valeta V12 diesels , they were later replaced by two Caterpillar blocks , which gives her a fair old speed of 26kts. One additional power unit is that of a waterjet drive which allows her to 'tread' water at very low speeds and she has a crew of 12 personnel.
