In one image, there is better focus on the wine glasses in the foreground than the pier and the other image there is better focus on the Cayucos pier.

The fog bank covering the channel between the city of Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands is starting to burn off over those parts of the city that are closer to the mountains inland.

The tops of the Channel Islands are above the fog bank that will burn off by noon time and give us all a gorgeous Southern California beach day.

As you can see I am glad I took the detour on Highway 154 through the mountains behind Santa Barbara and captured this view overlooking the city while driving back home from Northern California!

It's been one of THOSE kind of weeks in the payroll section at the Air National Guard Base.
So a big voice told me "Go to The Whale's Tail for a pint of ale!"

Two grilled fish tacos and a bowl of white clam chowder with two Whale's Tail Ale was just what the Chill Out Doctor ordered.

And now I am at home thinking about the passing of one of the GREATEST voices and drummers in North American music, the Late Great Levon Helm.

I will be playing the music of The Band for the rest of the night.

And I have more ale to ease the pain.

Let the drinking and thinking begin.

Enjoy every minute of the fantastic display of color as much as you can.

After the next few cold spells and rain showers the leaves in these images will fall to the ground and mix with the volcanic soil and dried grasses between the vine rows.

The vines will go dormant for the Winter, with bare, scraggly branches outstretched to the cold, winter air.

Until next Spring.

Adding experimental drama and color to this image of the Cayucos Pier.

It was foggy and gray at the time of this photo shoot, so I made the most of it with tone-curve adjustment processing.

This image has moderate tone-curve adjustment done to it.

I was lucky that the sun started to break through the fog!

I believe this image is the best of the two, composition is spot-on, not too bright and the clarity of both the pier and the wine glasses add up to a successful shot :-)

A panorama view of the majestic Pine Mountain ridgeline in Los padres National Forest, most of which lies in the Sespe Wlderness.
You can reach the top of the ridgeline using the Chorro Grande Trail, it will take about 6 miles to reach the top starting at the trailhead from Highway 33.
The map location shows where you are looking at up at the top of the ridgeline from the Chorro Grande Trail.
