The Grampians National Park Australia: The texture in the rocky terrain of The Grampians National Park Australia makes interesting photographic subjects. I suspect the wedge like peak in the photo is Chatauqua Peak which hangs over and dominates the small town of Halls Gap.

A rocky boulder near the Venus Baths walking track that runs through Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park Australia. There are many of these boulders in the area and they make great subjects for abstract landscape photography.

The Grampians National Park Australia: This photo was taken slightly north of the Pinnacle along the Wonderland loop walking track that runs from Halls Gap to the Pinnacle, in the Grampians National Park Australia. It can be a difficult walk when you’re loaded up with camera gear; but, the views are spectacular. It was a foggy day when this photo was taken; however, at this altitude I was high above the fog and by this time only small patches remained.

Marysville-Victoria-Church: Anglican Parish Christ Church Marysville. Marysville Victoria has tragically been ravaged by bushfires and the small Church on the corner of Marysville Rd & Marysville Woods Point Rd is believed to have burned to the ground like most of the town. Picturesque Marysville is situated between Narbethong and Buxton and is about 100 km or 2 hours drive from the Melbourne CBD. Many Victorians will miss the small picturesque tourist town of Marysville as it was frequented by many as a tranquil weekend getaway from city life. My own mother’s first memory of Marysville was as a young girl in 1945 when she visited nearby Buxton with her family and they went to a movie theater in Marysville to see Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly in “Anchor’s Away.” With first memory of Marysville was as a teenager back in the seventies when my mother and father and my brother stayed in a cabin for a few day when my father was recuperating from illness. I remember going to Stevenson’s Falls just out of town on a warm summer night.

In 2007 my friend Anne Cooper (Eastaugh) and her husband Andrew were married in the Anglican Parish Christ Church Marysville. Myself, and another photographer Michael, took photographs at the wedding and the reception. That’s when I took the pictures that you see here. At that time I stayed in the Tower Hotel in Murchison St and I suspect that it too has been burned to the ground.

My condolences go to all that have lost friends and relatives in the Victorian Bushfires and wish you all the best in rebuilding your lives, homes and communities.

The Crown Casino reflects in the still water of the Yarra River that runs through the city of Melbourne Australia. This photo was recently used in the Paul Barry book “Who Wants to Be a Billionaire? The James Packer Story.” Paul Barry has written a number of books about Australia’s rich and powerful including a book on Kerry Packer, the father of James Packer titles “The Rise and Rise of Kerry Packer.”
