The Canal

In between Budd Lake and Hall Lake in Fairmont, Minnesota, there is a canal that connects the two lakes. on the right side is Gomsrud Park; on the left is a restaurant and private homes. In the summer, this canal is packed with boaters traveling between the "Chain of Lakes" in Fairmont.

While driving across southern Minnesota last weekend, I came across this barn standing among the soybeans. The clouds were just amazing, and the soybeans were starting to turn colors; it was a great weekend to be out shooting.

Fall Colors in Duluth

On a day trip to see the fall colors along Lake Superior, we stopped for lunch at a park. This tree was just standing there, all alone, right across from the shores of Lake Superior.

I went on the train ride from Duluth to Two Harbors this past weekend. One of the cars in the Duluth Depot was this one; the Liz Prebich from the Great Northern Railway. I shot this as we passed it on our way out of the depot.

Duluth Lift Bridge

On my trip to Duluth on Saturday, we went on a boat ride out on Lake Superior. On our way back to the harbor, we had to pass under the Duluth Lift Bridge again. The sun was setting, and the clouds were out. I elbowed my way up to the front of the boat and fired off a few shots before we got too close.

I was out at the Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa last weekend for their "Photography Day". The buildings were fantastic, the interiors were stocked with antiques. These bottles were on a shelf on the general store.

The law office at the Living History Farms has this transfer book of lands in it, opened to this page of entries made in beautiful penmanship.

Last weekend was "Photography Day" at the Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa. The day’s objective was to allow photographers to test out gear from Canon, Nikon, and Tamron – but I ended up taking this shot with my own camera and lens.

There are so many cool buildings on the land at the Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa. Being that it was "Photography Day," and Tamron, Canon and Nikon all had reps there, I borrowed the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye.

I really liked the lens, but there are only so many shots I could take with it before the novelty wore off. This was before the novelty wore off - I liked what the fisheye did to the lines of the church.
