It was sunny but cool today. The weather has been so odd and cold recently. Sunday we had sunshine, wind, rain, hail all mixed together and minutes apart.

Besides the weather Monday down and 4 days to go until the long weekend :)!

The Goose is Loose

The goose couple that were nesting in front of my workplace have finally hatched their eggs. It was a long month of feeding the goose and avoiding her territorial and aggressive mate but they gave birth to 5 little goslings. A day after their birth they waddle off never to be seen again! I did not even get a chance to photograph them :(!

I often run through this bridge but on this day I biked. It was warm and the sun was about to set. Unfortunately, you can't really see the sun from this view point but it is what it is :)! I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Along the hike there were many areas with spectacular views. You just have to put your life at risk in order to see the view lol. Below these trees was a cliff and the Credit river. I quite enjoyed this view point.

Forks of the Credit Provincial Park

On Saturday, I went on a day long biking/hiking trip. It resulted in a serious sunburn but it was totally worth it! I did not realize how beautiful the Forks of the Credit Provincial Park was. This park is full of history from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. There were plenty of ruins too. It was quite a unique experience. I will definitely be returning but next time we are not taking bikes but we are strictly hiking.

I hope everyone had a great Monday (Bleh!). I kind of strained myself running today with an extra 60lbs of weight on my arms and legs. Shouldn't have added the weight and shouldn't have eaten beforehand. I feel sickish. Time to go lie down! Have a great week everyone!

The Humber Bay Beaver

I was startled when this guy swam past me with wood. I did not really see him and thought a log was moving right past me. I took some shots as he was coming back and forth from his/her dam; he did not mind me there snapping at all! I love these guys! It's unfortunate that they are killed because they are considered pests.

"Beavers are known for their natural trait of building dams on rivers and streams, and building their homes (known as "lodges") in the resulting pond. Beavers also build canals to float building materials that are difficult to haul over land. They use powerful front teeth to cut trees and other plants that they use both for building and for food. In the absence of existing ponds, beavers must construct dams before building their lodges. First they place vertical poles, then fill between the poles with a crisscross of horizontally placed branches. They fill in the gaps between the branches with a combination of weeds and mud until the dam impounds sufficient water to surround the lodge." Wikipedia

Wet Swan

It was a wonderful warmish afternoon to go for a walk by the lakeshore. Both people and the animals were all out soaking in the sun. This swan was doing the same with her mate not to far away defending any threats that came her way. I was also taken aback as people were actually willing to converse (which never happens here as people keep to themselves and avoid confrontation). So a shout out to those people with whom I chatted with if they stop by here to see my photos!
