Sometimes you try something new and it works great. This was not one of those times.

In preparation for a presentation at the Maker Faire New York (Sept 28th and 29th) I'm experimenting with some new drum pads ideas. I was hoping to make a bunch of independent round drum pads and place them around a table, but this design bounces way too much. On to the next idea.

Just learnt something new, acrylic burns pretty fast once it starts burning. We had a small fire in the laser cutter. From the first sign of flame and the "there's a fire!" yell, to the all out fire took only a few seconds.

Three parts got damaged, the vector table, air tube and x-belt. I'm glad to report the laser was only off line for a day.
