Using the natural light in my photos is something I couldn't do without. It's my "thing," so to speak.

I didn't shoot this photo today, but I could have had I had the chance to!

And might I add that I REALLY dislike the new Flickr format. It hurts to look at it and I can't find my way around nearly as easily as the old version. Nice of them to switch it on us without warning.

Not only was I surprised (pleasantly) to see these tulips growing wild near the Morton Arboretum's Schulenberg Prairie, but I was also surprised (very unpleasantly) to find tick roaming my pants and shirt after I finished photographing the flowers. I vanquished the foul beasties by flicking them off and running away, therefore these flowers were well worth the peril.

Photo A Day: May 3 | this is really good!

I didn't take the photo today; I'll be honest. I shot it earlier this week. But I want to post it for today's theme because of what happened with it today on Facebook. I posted the photo to the Morton Arboretum's wall since I do that with many of the photos I take there. Sometimes they share my photo as a feature, along with other people's photos, and today they shared this one. The first person to comment on it said, "The pictures I took are better... lol." I couldn't believe her rudeness. Even if her photos do happen to be better, what kind of a thing is that to say, especially for an adult and so flippantly?

I realize I'm not a pro. There are tons of pro photographers who are worlds and universes better than I am. I know that I do this photography thing because it's fun and I think I'm good at it for an amateur. More than anything, I like to share what I make with others. So I let that silly, immature comment slide. A few people commented afterward telling her she's rude and mean spirited, and now all the comments are gone. The photo is still there and I know people like it. I also happen to think that this photo is really good!
