Con Thien, South Vietnam: A marine tank is piled high with American dead as leather necks of the 9th Marines remove the bodies of their fallen comrades from the battlefield near Con Thien July 2nd following bitter hand-to-hand combat with North Vietnamese troops. Two days later, marine details sent north of Con Thien to recover more bodies were driven back by communist artillery and machine gun fire.
